[Wakaba Mutsumi Cosplay] Arknights Collaboration Outfit Photoshoot Notes

It actually took quite some time to prepare from the moment I decided to do Wakaba Mutsumi's collaboration look to finishing this set of photos. The weather on the day of the Nanning Winter Comic Convention was amazing. Although it was getting chilly, the outdoor natural light was incredibly soft, which is perfect for this kind of slightly mysterious dress. The parts of this cosplay outfit that I put the most effort into were actually the black wide-brimmed witch hat and the long mint-green hair; it took me a long time to style the wig to keep it fluffy without getting frizzy. The layers of ruffles on the skirt hem adorned with green ribbons, combined with the butterfly prop in my hand, indeed beautifully convey the character's fragile yet dynamic vibe of a 'freed doll.'

For this shoot, I intentionally tried poses from several different angles. The first photo, where I reach my hand out in front of the car, is meant to evoke a feeling of invitation or playfully interacting with the butterfly. The third photo, tilting my head toward the camera while wearing semi-sheer gloves, carries a touch of Gothic coolness. The leaning back pose in the fourth photo actually put my center of gravity to the test, but fortunately, the skirt drapes beautifully, resulting in a shot full of dynamic energy. For the final photo where I lift my skirt, I purposely leveled my gaze so everyone could clearly see the golden stars on my thigh rings and the polka-dot details of the black stockings—this outfit's structure is indeed very rich. To express that airy yet slightly melancholic vibe of a 'doll that has gained freedom,' I specifically chose dark reddish-brown circle lenses, creating a beautiful warm-cool contrast with my mint-green hair. With the black lace gloves on my hands and the wide white cuffs at my wrists gently folded in front of me, it exudes the delicate elegance of a classical doll.

Actually, this set of photos was already fully retouched on D2 (Day 2), but my procrastination got the best of me, and I only got around to organizing and posting them today. After the event ended back then, I also took some time to look around Nanning Winter Comic Convention and saw many other outstanding cosplayers; the atmosphere was absolutely amazing. During the shoot, there were actually quite a few cars and pedestrians passing by, but the photographer was great at catching the right moments, having me pose by the car and on the steps to avoid the cluttered background, resulting in these clean frames. The black corset combined with the white cuffs, topped with a black floral choker at the collar—this black-and-white color blocking, layered with mint-green details, looks very refreshing yet substantial. As for the details of this outfit, another feature I'm highly satisfied with is the waist corset design and the long hanging green ribbons. When posing, they would catch the breeze and lightly sweep across the skirt hem or drape down the side of my leg, creating a perfect top-to-bottom harmony with the golden stars on the thigh rings.

Speaking of which, I have to mention the progress on D2. After the shoot that day, we selected the photos overnight, and by the next day, the retoucher and I had already finalized the polished images. The overall color grading and skin smoothing were kept minimal to preserve the skin's natural texture as much as possible. After all, this look inherently carries a cool, retro charm, and over-editing would have ruined the atmosphere. Once the files were ready, I just kept them on my phone and procrastinated until now. Looking at this set, I still feel it's worth documenting properly. I hope this set of photos taken during my outing at the Nanning Winter Comic Convention brings you a slightly different visual experience. I will continue to try more outfits with varying styles and structures, and keep polishing the details in the future.
