I've finally completed the photoshoot for Cifera (Cifera) from Honkai: Star Rail. I have always found her design extraordinarily distinctive—the collision of glossy black materials with metallic golden edging delivers a sci-fi edge while carrying a retro, mysterious allure. To best embody the character's temperament, substantial care was poured into costume acquisition and prop crafting during pre-production.
The details of Cifera's outfit are remarkably dense. The black leather bodice demands a precise tailoring fit; while the cinched waist and metallic buckles look stunning, they significantly restrict mobility. The hood featuring cat ears and golden ocular ornaments is the true soul of this styling—putting it on instantly anchored me in character mode. Since her lore features blue eyes, I specifically wore bright blue colored contacts. The element that surprised me most was that long, plush tail; to ensure it held its dimensional shape without collapsing during the shoot, I built an inner support framework. While it required extra caution when walking and posing, the resulting frames turned out delightfully adorable. Then there are the golden boots: the tall stiletto boots feature delicate jacquard-like textures and towering heels that visually elongated my leg lines immensely, though wearing them for extended shooting definitely took a toll on stamina. To heighten the regal opulence, I prepared an extra-long pearl necklace; whether wound around the wrist or casually draped over the skirt hem, it enriched the visual depth of the scene.
For set design, we utilized a vintage Baroque-style sofa accented by a lavish spread of vibrant red roses, golden satins, antique gilded picture frames, and leather luggage trunks, cultivating an opulent, courtly ambiance. During the session, we specifically adjusted the lighting using a contrasting warm-and-cool illumination scheme—primarily to sculpt tactile reflections across the glossy black patent fabric while making the golden boots and pauldrons pop. The luster of the pearls under the strobes was equally stunning; I tried playing with the strands with my fingers or letting them drape naturally to infuse dynamic grace into the frames.
The entire shoot was taxing yet deeply engaging. To showcase this outfit from every angle, I experimented with leaning back, reclining on my side, and sitting upright. For instance, reclining across the sofa not only required stretching the leg lines, but also demanded keeping the tail placement looking organic—a genuine trial of core stability. Seated poses also required keeping fabric creases at bay to preserve the sleek surface of the leather bodice. Because the boots were so steep, every pose transition necessitated recalibrating my center of gravity. With an abundance of rose props, I had to watch out for thorns and petals to avoid snagging the costume. The studio strobes were hot, and shooting in a tight leather bodysuit easily induced sweating, but fortunately, the team's seamless synergy captured countless satisfying frames.
This styling fuses cold, edgy black with opulent gold, accented by cat ears and tail motifs to project an aura that is both languid and predatory. To recreate this layered expression, I explored diverse gazes before the lens—sometimes a cunning, sly stare, other times a relaxed, detached daydream. Every outdoor excursion or studio shoot is an opportunity to deepen my understanding of a character. I'm overjoyed with the completion of this photo set; though the garments and props were heavy, all fatigue vanished the moment I saw the finished photos. I hope this sharing brings everyone visual freshness and serves as an inspiring reference for fellow fans of this character.
