I am Ruan Mei. This shoot combines outdoor waterfront and forest scenes, aiming to present the character's elegant yet slightly mysterious atmosphere through a real natural environment, making it a beautiful piece of outdoor photography. First, let's talk about the restoration of the costume. The streak of cyan-green highlight in the dark hair, paired with the golden butterfly-wing hair ornament and branch hairpins, is the crowning touch of the overall look's details. This Traditional Chinese style outfit has rich layers; the off-the-shoulder cyan-blue inner layer and the white semi-transparent outer cloak preserve a sense of lightness, while establishing a visual center of gravity through the waistband and the blue strapped thigh rings. The combination of the ruby and pearl necklace at the neckline, along with the deep blue long leather gloves, balances the serenity of cool tones with the brightening effect of golden decorations in the overall color scheme.

The lighting on the day of the shoot was excellent, and our first location was on the stone steps by the water. To capture the dynamic snapshot of the water dripping from the ladle, we tried repeatedly many times. The bamboo water ladle was raised in the sunlight, water trickling down the wooden handle, with sunlight penetrating the droplets to create a very natural texture. This kind of interaction, carrying a bit of everyday life and motion, is actually harder to grasp than simply posing, requiring great control over one's body movements and the use of props. Sitting by the shore, a gentle breeze blew across the water surface as waves lapped against the stone steps; that authentic feedback from the environment made the emotions in the photos feel very natural. The second set of movements shifted to a high stool and an instrument. This prop is quite heavy, and holding it required adjusting my arm posture to maintain a sense of balance and aesthetic appeal in the frame. Fortunately, the dappled light and shadow in the outdoor woods fell upon the clothes and the instrument, making the originally blue and white outfit appear much softer. The few shots in the bushes were more relaxed—such as placing a hand over the forehead to block the sun, or resting my chin on one hand while looking at the camera. This kind of casual, relaxed state actually tests expressiveness, as one must convey the character's personality without major movements.

The entire shooting process actually had many interesting details. For instance, precisely controlling the trajectory of the dripping water by the waterfront while avoiding splashes onto the costume; or managing the grip posture of the hand prop when holding the instrument to prevent stiffness. Many thanks to the photographer @魔法书📷互勉 for the patient guidance; with the coordination of aperture and shutter speed, the serene lighting atmosphere and the somewhat complex costume details were preserved remarkably intact. In fact, this outdoor photography session wasn't like a studio shoot where everything is under control. There are many variables outdoors, such as the reflected light from plants and the glare from the water surface, but it is precisely because of these uncontrollable factors that the entire set of works gains a more vivid sense of vitality. As an attempt at a Cosplay photoshoot, I truly enjoyed this process of blending with the environment, and I hope this set of photos allows everyone to see my interpretation of this character's serene and exquisite nature.
