When shooting this Aglaea Cosplay Convention photo, a great deal of effort went into the costume and accessories beforehand to bring the Weaver's elegance and magnificence to life. The main outfit is off-white, structured internally with stiff gold-threaded fabric to support the hollow golden leaf structures while moving. However, this outfit was quite tricky to manage, as the rigid materials easily snagged on the skirt hem, requiring constant caution. The wig is pale blonde, and styling the bangs to closely fit the face shape was essential to evoke an ethereal, elf-like feel. The green colored contacts and delicate eye makeup formed the soul of this look, giving the eyes a deep yet aloof expression.
The shoot took place inside a convention hall where the background was relatively crowded, but during quieter moments, the lighting turned out exceptionally well. Working with the photographer to capture dynamic candid moments, we mainly used side-backlighting to accentuate the costume's silhouette and the sheer texture of the gloves. The most captivating element of this styling is the swirling skirt motion; to capture that split second, I practiced spinning with the heavy golden staff over a dozen times. Because of the high heels, spinning too fast risked tripping, while spinning too slowly failed to create flowing lines in the skirt. Furthermore, due to the wide arm movements, the two sheer lace gloves kept catching on the skirt's stiff edges, requiring constant readjustment during the shoot.
Although a Convention photo cannot achieve the pristine purity of a studio shoot due to background limitations, the natural posture and lighting captured on the fly felt remarkably vivid. The character Aglaea naturally possesses a serene yet commanding presence, so I consciously kept my torso upright, engaged my core and back, and focused my gaze slightly off-camera—with a slight tilt of the head that perfectly showcased the full eye makeup and jawline. Despite the crowded hall that day, I immersed myself fully in the character's mindset, using body language and the flowing skirt turns to express the Weaver's inner resilience. Looking through the entire set, everything from the intricate golden patterns around the waist to the high-heeled sandals was captured at its absolute best in these dynamic shots. Overall, it was a painfully demanding yet truly rewarding shooting experience.
