[Miss Yamada cosplay] Street Atmosphere under the Neon Lights at the Supermarket Back Door - Image 1

The cool-toned neon lights near the supermarket back door happened to make my skin tone look exceptionally fair, while the yellow glow from the arcade machine on the right provided a wonderful ambient rim light. Since the shoot's setting was a street-style scene, I wore a white tight deep-U-neck short-sleeve top, paired with a short black leather jacket draped half-off over my arms. This not only revealed the lines of my shoulders and waist but also visually elongated my proportions, fitting that unbridled street vibe. The leather jacket's material has a strong reflective sheen, which, paired with the cool-toned ambient lights, made the texture stand out remarkably.

During the shoot, the photographer had me lean slightly forward, advising me to avoid looking directly into the camera and instead gaze sideways with a hint of coldness or languidness. To fit the theme of "two people puffing clouds of smoke," I held a slender prop in my mouth. Actually, handling or holding such props in your mouth requires facial muscle control—you shouldn't bite down too tightly, or your lips will distort. I usually adopt a slightly parted lip approach combined with deep breaths, which keeps the jawline contour sharper while conveying that casual, carefree state of mind.

I spent a long time grooming that red hair: leaving a small gap in the front blunt bangs, and purposely leaving the sideburns longer to contour my face and make it look smaller. The wide black choker around my neck was the finishing touch, adding a sense of neck restraint that contrasted sharply with the rugged style of the leather jacket. The long silver tassel earrings on my ears swayed slightly when I turned my head, catching reflections under the cool light and filling the empty space on either side of my cheeks so it wouldn't look too barren.

When framing the shot, the photographer did an exceptional job blurring out the background supermarket shelves and aisles, and the overlapping of cool and warm light sources added rich layering to the frame. The fill light primarily came from an upper-front position, preventing cluttered shadows on the face and keeping the frame clean. The edges of the wig hairs caught a gorgeous rim-light highlight under this backlighting, looking utterly stunning.

The line "Ossan, over here, over here!" took me quite a few tries to get into character on set. I needed to project a vibe of intercepting a passerby at the back door of a supermarket while casually greeting them with something in my mouth. The physical posture needed to be relaxed—shoulders slightly slumped, weight shifted onto one leg, hands shoved into the leather jacket pockets so the jacket would naturally slip off a bit, revealing the inner shirt and a portion of my midriff. This casual standing stance easily causes the clothes to wrinkle, so during every gap between shutter clicks, I had to adjust the hem of my shirt to ensure the abdominal lines were cleanly and clearly displayed.

The wig also needed constant grooming to ensure the strands wouldn't cling massively to my face due to wind or movement, which would otherwise hurt shooting efficiency. This cool-toned lighting actually tests skin condition heavily; the preliminary base foundation needed to be spotless, with zero cakey foundation buildup. During post-processing color grading, I preserved the skin's original texture while merely bumping up the overall contrast to make the red hair strands and black leather jacket pop even more. In reality, the core of this street-style cosplay lies in the natural flow of the character's demeanor—there's no need to force exaggerated poses; the more casual it is, the more tension it carries, and capturing the gaze matters far more than deliberate movements.
