This Christmas-themed photoshoot has finally been smoothly completed. I've always wanted to take a set of warm Christmas-themed photos full of festive atmosphere, and this time I finally locked down this style.
This time I chose a red-and-white Christmas outfit paired with the iconic pink short hair cosplay look. The fluffy white collar and the ruffled design of the skirt hem look very effective in front of the lens. I especially want to mention this pair of red tights and dark red short boots; they not only visually elongate the silhouette but also fit perfectly with the overall playful and cute vibe.
The studio for this shoot was Penguin Island Photography Studio. The scene layout inside the studio was very thoughtful, featuring not only retro woven carpets and wooden bookshelves but also perfectly arranged textured Christmas props. That grey star pillow and the gingerbread man plushie were both super squishy, becoming my secret weapons for staying relaxed. During the shooting process, the biggest surprise for me was that there was a very cute cat in the studio; although it didn't appear in the photos, petting it a couple of times during breaks made the stress dissipate instantly.
During the shoot, the photographer utilized multiple perspectives; for instance, a low-angle shot showcased the proportion of the skirt hem and long legs, while those frames looking straight into the lens extending a gift box had an especially strong sense of interaction. Combined with the warm-toned lighting and a retro filter, the overall atmosphere of the frame was maximized.
A great number of props were used this time, such as books, a retro telephone, a disco ball, and even those textured Christmas trees and gift boxes; each piece enriched the layers of the frame beautifully. Personally, my favorite is the shot where I am hugging that giant gingerbread man plushie, feeling completely surrounded by the cozy festive atmosphere.
In terms of expressiveness, I also tried my best to coordinate with the scene's atmosphere. For example, when holding the snowman plushie or extending the gift box, I deliberately adjusted my gaze and hand gestures to give the photos more of a narrative feel. The studio's lighting was set up very warmly, and this warm light hitting the red garments happened to present a very comfortable texture.
As an attempt at a Christmas-themed studio photoshoot share, I actually placed great importance on the visual unity of the final photos. Therefore, whether in prop selection or pose design, I tried my best to match the character's intrinsic energetic yet slightly playful personality traits. The overall direction of the entire photo set is a sweet, healing style, and I hope those of you viewing these pictures can also feel this warmth in winter. The experience of this shoot was wonderful, and I also thank the photography team for their thoughtful capturing of this look. I look forward to trying more themed shoots in different styles next time, presenting more and richer looks to everyone.
