When scouting the location on the 1st, this cherry blossom grove wasn't in full bloom yet, with plenty of unopened buds on the branches. I was constantly nervous, hoping the petals wouldn't all be swept away by the wind before returning this weekend. For this shoot, I chose a casual sailor uniform concept: a crisp white top paired with a navy blue pleated skirt. The blue stripes along the collar echo the patterns on the necktie, giving the overall color palette a clean, refreshing vibe. To suit the spring atmosphere, I specially selected a blue-and-gold folding fan as a prop; the floral motifs across the fan leaves subtly resonated with the blooming sakura in the background.

Styling the wig took considerable effort. The base wig was originally quite dense and heavy, so I trimmed the bangs and side locks myself and thinned out the ends of the twin-tails. Thinning them made the hair look far more natural without feeling top-heavy. The dark blue hair ribbon on top was also adjusted repeatedly to ensure it stood upright with crisp definition. As for eye color, instead of the standard shade, I tracked down a pair of bright blue colored contacts; once on and paired with the makeup, they delivered a lovely translucent clarity under natural sunlight. For the eye makeup, I kept the focus on lashes and eyeliner, deliberately avoiding heavy lines to preserve that airy, crystal-clear aesthetic.

The lighting on the shoot day was rather tricky—the dense trees cast dappled shadows with a high dynamic range. We spent most of our time finding flattering angles, making sure my face met soft, diffused light so facial contours stayed smooth and clean. In the full-body shot, I used the folding fan for subtle framing and visual leading lines: left hand raised slightly, right hand naturally relaxed. The pleated skirt catches dynamic kinetic motion when walking or spinning, so we snapped that action pose multiple times to nail the right balance. Because the skirt is relatively short, I wore White stockings (white pantyhose) underneath for ease of mobility, allowing me to squat or move freely without worrying about wardrobe malfunctions while beautifully flattering my leg lines.

Beyond traditional standing poses, I also experimented with everyday props like a pink paper cup to introduce a relaxed, slice-of-life transition, making the frames feel less like rigid studio portraits or staged poses. Real-location shoots during sakura season truly test patience and light awareness. When a gentle breeze sweeps through and petals drift onto your clothes or hair, those fleeting candid moments feel the most vibrant and alive. I hope everyone heading out for blossom viewing or photo sessions this weekend encounters gorgeous weather and captures the exact frames they envision!
