Standing by the harbor edge in this blue-and-white uniform as the sea breeze gently lifted my skirt, I felt truly immersed in the atmosphere of these waters. To faithfully portray St. Louis (St. Louis cosplay), I dedicated immense effort throughout the pre-production phase. The tailoring of this ensemble is remarkably exacting: the off-the-shoulder blue-and-white paneled cut combined with metallic chest clasps had to ensure three-dimensional visual impact on camera while preserving comfort during extended wear. To recreate the character's body proportions, I made countless adjustments to the undergarments—particularly around the side cutouts and strapping, where being slightly too tight or too loose would disrupt the overall silhouette. Managing the band indentations of the over-the-knee White stockings (White stockings) was another major hurdle; to guarantee sleek leg lines free of awkward wrinkles, I experimented with various methods, ultimately finding that pairing specialized anti-slip adhesives with garters of balanced stiffness produced the slender, taut finish seen in the photos. While the red-and-black stiletto heels look stunning, standing on uneven harbor cobblestones demanded relentless core stability, not to mention sustaining an effortless, poised posture throughout.
The outdoor location was staged at a harbor port, where docked gray naval warships in the backdrop injected hardcore military grit into the frames, instantly cementing the character's presence. Given the ever-shifting outdoor lighting, we conducted test shoots across multiple time windows to capture the most flattering natural light, utilizing adjusted bounce reflectors to highlight the fine texture of the White stockings (White stockings) under sunlight. Beyond the outdoor naval uniform, we also explored indoor studio setups: the frame holding a clear glass tumbler before floor-to-ceiling windows aimed to capture a relaxed, intimate lifestyle vibe. Here, softer lighting placed higher demands on facial illumination and skin clarity; I dusted deeper blush to enhance a healthy glow and layered the eye makeup with winged outer corners for a touch of fierce confidence, balanced by lower-lid shimmer to retain sweet femininity.
Alongside the centerpiece uniform, I prepared an adapted white cheongsam and a snowy kimono look. The cheongsam set was paired with black garter stockings inside a traditional courtyard beside nighttime canals, where warm glows from red paper lanterns contrasted sharply against black lace textures. Seated on a wooden armchair holding a folding fan, keeping the spine upright was vital to channeling classical elegance infused with subtle allure. Shooting the kimono series in the snow involved freezing temperatures; despite wearing an ornate kimono trimmed with a white fur stole, enduring the gusts called for sheer willpower to preserve calm facial composure. Holding a yellow oiled-paper umbrella along the wooden veranda while watching snow settle upon stone rabbits and sake bottles yielded a quiet, tranquil beauty that was thoroughly rewarding.
To keep her signature blue hair color-accurate across diverse lighting, I treated the wig against frizz during cutting and setting while smoothing the hairline transitions so edges blended seamlessly from every angle. Overall touch-ups and costume adjustments took two to three hours each session, ensuring pristine foundation adhesion and millimeter-accurate strap placement before the lens. Every stage of this project presented challenges, but seeing that poised figure combining martial spirit, sweetness, and iconic blue tresses made all the exhaustion vanish.
