[Kagiyama Hina cosplay] Touhou Project waterfall location photography, an extreme 10 minutes by the surging torrents

Driving for two hours, the actual time spent standing in front of the waterfall for shooting was only a short ten minutes. This trip can be said to be an extreme challenge, but it also left extremely deep memories.

Recently, due to typhoons and heavy rain, the relatively gentle streams originally planned turned into roaring beasts. When we arrived at the scene, the degree of water volume surge far exceeded expectations. Some shooting spots that could originally be approached were already submerged, water vapor fluttered across the sky like light rain, rocks were covered with slippery moss, and you could even feel the vibration brought by the current. Shooting in this kind of environment causes the danger coefficient to rise straight up.

Kagiyama Hina's outfit, featuring red velvet fabric combined with complex lace and ruffles, is visually very gorgeous, but once encountering such an extremely humid environment, the clothes become exceptionally heavy. The exaggerated head decorations and long straps were extremely difficult to fix in the strong wind, and the wind blew them straight onto the face as soon as it blew. After the wig was dampened by the water mist and stuck to the body, the frequency of touch-ups could hardly keep up with the speed at which the water vapor ruined the makeup.

Photographer @Wuyu Ruoye was extremely professional, planning the movement routes in a very short time. Because the roar of the waterfall was deafening, communication relied basically on shouting loudly and gestures. To avoid the slippery moss edges and turbulent currents, we finally retreated to relatively stable stone steps and wooden fences. Using a telephoto lens, the space was well compressed, blending the grand water flow as a natural background with the character.

Multiple camera angles and rich actions were originally prepared, but the wind was truly too fierce, and the wide skirt hem carried the risk of being swept into the rapids at any time. Coupled with the slippery ground, it was hard to stabilize the center of gravity wearing heavy boots. To ensure absolute safety, we streamlined all actions, frantically clicking the shutter within ten minutes, focusing mainly on candid shots, trying our best to convey the character's detached and aloof atmosphere with extended limbs and gazes.

Although the shooting time was extremely short and the conditions were extremely harsh, the high tension of the finished photos is indeed surprising. However, I still want to remind everyone with my personal experience that natural scenic spots after extreme weather have too many variables, and personal safety must always be put first when shooting by the water, maintaining awe for nature. Behind these ten minutes are two hours of driving and immense physical exertion, but being able to smoothly and safely complete this cosplay work makes everything worth it.
