[Saigyouji Yuyuko cosplay] Finally Fulfilling My Dream for the Touhou Project Canon Design - Image 1

I've been planning to do a Saigyouji Yuyuko cosplay photoshoot for a long time, and today, taking advantage of the weekend sunshine, my spouse, who took charge of the photography, and I finally finished shooting the canon design look.
Speaking of this outfit, I actually feel quite sentimental. A long time ago, I bought a set of the canon costume, but back then, due to various trivial matters and work, I could never find the right time to shoot it. Later when moving houses, I thought it took up too much space and that I might never cosplay this character again, so I gritted my teeth and sold it to a fellow fan for their collection. But not long after selling it, every time I scrolled through Touhou Project fan art or Touhou fanon works, my heart would itch, always feeling like I owed myself a complete photographic record. So a while ago, I repurchased this layered dress in light blue and white. This kind of resonance with one's own obsession is probably something only friends in this community can understand.
The location for this shoot was intentionally chosen as a courtyard with a classical wooden porch. The dark wooden doors behind the building and the green-and-yellow tiles on the old steps provided a serene texture, which felt like a great match for Yuyuko's ethereal and lazy temperament. The moment I changed into the clothes and put on the pink wig, a familiar yet strange feeling rushed over me.
The details of the costume are indeed very exquisite. The wide-brimmed hat with large ruffles, adorned with that iconic red element, looks exceptionally soft under natural light. The main body of the dress is a very lightweight light blue, spliced with a large amount of white lace and tulle fabric. My absolute favorite part is the front of the outfit along with the teardrop-shaped blue bead decorations; when moving, they sway gently with the hemline, creating a very strong sense of layering. The cascading ruffles on the shoulders and that wide white ribbon truly interpret the dreamlike and gorgeous feel of this garment perfectly.
The one responsible for pressing the shutter for this cosplay photoshoot was my wife. She is actually an enthusiast who knows a lot about makeup and styling herself, so she completely understands what kind of light and angles I need in front of the lens to bring out the details of the clothes. This shoot was more about resolving an obsession, so our interaction on set was very casual. She kept saying, 'Pull your hand back a bit, yes, lightly brush your jaw against your fingertips, look over here.' Although it was a bit windy that day and the wig almost flew off a few times while running, when we captured this teaser photo, looking back at the pink hair strands interwoven with the light blue skirt on the screen made all the morning's hassle feel completely worth it.
For a massive world setting like Touhou Project, Yuyuko's character charm has always been immense. As a veteran Touhou fan for years, whether it's the official canon design or the fanon creations everyone talks about, every character has a fascinating baseline. This combination of classical Eastern ethereal mystery and modern Lolita elements is truly hard not to love.
This teaser photo is just a little teaser to satisfy everyone's curiosity first. Although we ran into some minor episodes during the shoot, such as the skirt being too long and easily getting dirty, and the wig always wanting to run wild in front of the lens, as long as we captured satisfying light, shadow, and expressions, all the hard work becomes trivial. The specific retouching progress for the cosplay photoshoot will be a bit slow, so please wait a while, and I will share the full photo set once I get the final edits.
