[Touhou Project] CICF Day 3 Lolita Convention photos

On CICF Day 3, I spent the entire day navigating the crowds with my camera. When shooting this Touhou Project-inspired Lolita outfit, we caught the outdoor backlighting just right: sunlight filtering through the skirt's lace and wig edges made the whole figure appear framed in glowing rim light. Using a Sony A7R3 paired with a Tamron 35-150mm F2-2.8 lens, the telephoto compression proved extremely practical outdoors for cutting out background crowds. Shooting wide open against the light, the camera's highlight dynamic range combined with optical quality allowed me to control highlights while preserving atmosphere—the luminous texture owed much to this gear setup. To bring out the light blonde hair and blue eyes, I wore matching colored contacts and focused on detailed eye makeup. Glitter decals under the left eye added subtle sparkle in natural light, making them ideal for close-ups. For the costume, significant care went into layering—extensive white lace, ice-blue tulle, and wine-red ribbons revealed rich textures under bright light. The petticoat's dome and skirt drapery were key focal points, pairing with white diamond-patterned Over-the-knee socks and platform shoes to visually elongate the legs. The dark grimoire prop tied with a wine-red ribbon offered great versatility, allowing poses like holding it to my chest, raising it high, or lifting the skirt. Midday outdoor contrast was harsh, sometimes requiring moves into shadows. Posing in the afternoon was physically demanding given the costume's weight, but the broad zoom range eliminated the need for frequent lens swaps. Despite the convention crowds, quiet corners yielded clean framing. My favorite shot is the full-body candid that caught the sunlight perfectly. The elaborate costume was well-balanced in weight distribution, though the heavy headpiece needed occasional adjustment. Rhinestones on my face lost two gems, which serendipitously added scattered light accents. In post-processing, I suppressed highlights while keeping shadows clear and translucent. The light blonde hair texture rendered beautifully backlit, and reliable autofocus tracked billowing skirt motions accurately. Posing with slight skirt twirls while walking added dynamic natural motion. Framing at f/2.2 created soft bokeh and gentle backlit halation, while editing prioritized natural color and lighting adjustments over heavy reshaping to preserve authentic facial structure.
