Bringing Suisui cosplay from Wuthering Waves to life took about half a month from preparation to final delivery, featuring myself, 1-Pin cosplay. This costume is filled with intricate details: a modified qipao silhouette in white with gold patterns, featuring a black semi-sheer lace neckline adorned with golden floral motifs that deliver rich layering. The neck ornaments and the flowing ribbons on the arms required careful pinning piece by piece, otherwise the slightest movement would throw them into disarray. For the wig, I selected a pale blonde tone and spent considerable time styling it to achieve natural, airy volume.
I put special thought into the makeup, pairing yellow contact lenses with pinkish-red eye makeup and using a specialized forehead mark sticker. The studio set leaned into classical Chinese aesthetics, incorporating carved wooden folding screens, draped sheer curtains, a full moon prop, and botanical elements like ginkgo and cherry blossoms. The translucent yellow round fan in my hand features blue trim patterns that beautifully echo the colors of the flowing ribbons on the outfit.
Lighting placement was crucial during the shoot. Warm yellow ambient backlighting paired with frontal soft fill-lights lent an ethereal translucency to the hair strands. To showcase the garment's tailoring and body contours, many poses intentionally highlighted the high slit of the skirt, accentuating sleek leg lines. Several shots were taken barefoot, while others featured black high heels with red soles; combining the heels with the high slit undeniably elongated the leg proportions for striking visual results. Transitioning between reclining and seated poses tested my core strength, particularly while keeping the wrist steady with the round fan.
Although cycling through poses was physically demanding, reviewing the tethered monitor confirmed that the costume's rich textures were captured with great fidelity. The props, set dressing, and hair and makeup converged to cultivate a serene, subtly enigmatic ambiance. The photographer had a keen eye for light and shadow, freezing countless fine details. I am personally very satisfied with the finished set and hope everyone can feel the care and dedication poured into this Traditional Chinese style cosplay.
