Preparing and shooting this Shimoe Koharu Maid outfit took a lot of thought. The pink halo above the head and the black feathered wing ornaments on both sides are the soul of the entire look. To secure them, I spent a lot of time adjusting angles on the headband, ensuring both that the wig's fluffiness wouldn't collapse and that the props wouldn't wobble. The maid outfit features a classic pink-and-white color scheme with puff sleeves and multi-layered lace trim; when wearing it, a petticoat must be put on first before tightening the apron ties, otherwise the skirt hem will sag. The huge pink satin bow on the chest actually carries some weight; when wearing it, it needed to be fastened to the neckline with small safety pins to prevent it from skewing mid-shoot.
For the long straight pink wig, I chose a cool-toned pink with trimmed ends; the bangs required using a flat iron bit by bit to curl them slightly inward to closely match the original design. In terms of makeup, the eyeshadow used layers of purple-pink blending, and the blush covered a much larger area than daily makeup—dusting soft pink over the tip of the nose and cheeks, paired with pink-purple contact lenses, made the entire facial contour appear much softer. The lip glaze was specially chosen with a mirror-finish texture to add a touch of dewy shine in front of the lens.
The shooting location was chosen in an indoor space predominantly styled in pink tones, with vintage furniture and cartoon stickers in the background that echoed the outfit's colors perfectly. The first pose was holding a plate with waffles and cream; although the prop looked cute, holding it steadily while maintaining a smile and steady gaze actually made my wrists quite sore. Later, we moved to the doorway—holding the skirt hem with one hand and opening the other hand forward. The photographer had me shift my weight onto one leg as much as possible to elongate the body lines; from this angle, the pairing of Mary Jane shoes and White stockings with lace trim was also completely captured.
Next was sitting by the dining table, slightly bending forward while covering my mouth. This pose demanded some core strength in the waist and abdomen, as I had to maintain a slightly leaning upper body arc without shrugging my shoulders too high, keeping my gaze lowered slightly. The final heart-sign photo was taken in the corner; by then, I was already feeling fatigued, but raising both hands to my chest actually allowed me to relax, resulting in a very natural effect.
Throughout the shoot, my biggest takeaway was that props and fine details truly impact one's state. For instance, if the apron ties of the Maid outfit loosen, you get distracted while posing; if the wig gets static electricity, strands floating across the face make things look messy. Therefore, after every set of shots, the photographer and I would review raw photos together, smoothing out garment wrinkles and adjusting headpiece positioning. This styling lacked complex weapons or massive props, relying entirely on the costume's texture and posture, so every movement strived to maintain an air of elegance and playfulness within natural simplicity.
Looking at these finished photos now, the pink halo, black feathers, and white lace, combined with the tiers of the skirt hem, harmoniously blend together under the warm light. Even though wearing a wig for hours felt stuffy on the scalp and walking in high heels made my feet ache, seeing the character's presence in the final photos made all the prior preparations feel completely worthwhile.
