[Mornye cosplay] Attending the Firefly SP Dongguan Book Signing with a Bunny Plush: Event Log

The event floor photos from the PSD signing session at Firefly SP Dongguan are finally compiled. This Wuthering Waves Mornye cosplay series was shot using a Sony A7C2 paired with the FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II lens. Mornye's custom costume has plenty of intricate details, including a white lace skirt hem, geometric metal cuffs at the waist, and a blue choker necklace. Dongguan's weather in March was already somewhat muggy. Wearing the white wig and the halo headpiece prop made prolonged standing a bit tiring, but fortunately, the final visual presentation turned out wonderfully.

When shooting outdoor full-body portraits to accentuate the leg lines enhanced by White tights cosplay, I tried angling my body sideways with the front leg extended, tightening my core slightly so the skirt would flare naturally, while controlling hand gestures to keep from obstructing my waistline. Under natural sunlight, the white fabric texture showed up vividly against a gently blurred background. The indoor signing area was shot using reflectors combined with overhead convention lighting. Because Mornye's red eye makeup is quite distinctive, ample facial lighting was necessary to preserve that clarity and translucent gaze in this Anime-style photography. While gesturing at the table or cradling the plush bunny, special attention was paid to how light caught the rings and geometric bracelets, ensuring the upper-body metal textures looked sleek and premium.

The lighting contrast between indoors and outdoors was stark, so in post-processing, I strived to retain fabric details across both shadow and highlight areas of the white dress. The low-light profile shots were taken later during a pickup session when the crowd thinned out, enhancing the moody ambiance. The camera performed remarkably well in low light, capturing the crisp edge of the halo and the reflective sheen of the metallic accessories. I love compositions that sculpt facial contours through chiaroscuro contrast. The plush bunny prop also played a key role during the shoot; holding it made my poses look more relaxed and candid while harmonizing seamlessly with the soft pink-and-white palette of the outfit.

For hair and makeup, the white wig required patient thinning of the bangs to achieve that weightless feel, while the red eyeshadow needed to pop before the lens without looking muddy, which took considerable trial and error during fitting. To avoid background passersby and barricades, we often waited patiently on the side for the right opening. Convention lighting is notoriously chaotic; to bring out smooth, delicate skin textures, we adjusted the reflector angles and fill light intensity multiple times. The autofocus tracking on dynamic movements was also super responsive. This shoot deepened my grasp of both outdoor location and indoor convention workflows, resulting in a set with high character fidelity. Despite the bustling convention noise, it lent a unique authenticity—a candid record well worth cherishing.
