[Verina Cosplay] Chongqing University's Huxi Campus Ecology is Incredible, Perfect Match for Verina from Wuthering Waves

Speaking of the first experience shooting Verina at Chongqing University Huxi Campus, it was truly a completely immersive natural collaboration. Before confirming the shooting venue, I was actually a bit apprehensive in my heart; after all, the worldview of Wuthering Waves is massive, and Verina is a character rooted in nature, which places high demands on the environment. As a result, when arriving at the Huxi Campus, I found the greenery coverage here is simply beyond imagination—those thick, twisted ancient roots, moss-mottled tree trunks, and lush bushes required almost no deliberate set design; just standing there allowed me to instantly integrate into the character. This is probably why this shoot went so smoothly.

Let's talk about the costume. Verina's dress outfit looks lightweight, but in the outdoor setting of early summer, it was actually a minor test. The combination of mint green and white is highly photogenic under natural light, especially those layered designs of the skirt hem and the large green bow on the headpiece, which carry an inherent sense of agility when walking around. Meanwhile, that head of gradient-colored wig, although very flowing, nearly got caught by tree branches when standing on the steps and turning back against the wind to display different angles during the shoot. This adds to the fun of outdoor cosplay.

The photographer's use of backlighting was exceptionally exquisite, serving as an important guarantee for the texture of this photoshoot. In this forest environment, the sunlight filters through the dense canopy to form mottled light and shadow, hitting the light-colored hair strands and skirt hem, forming a beautiful rim light that makes the entire frame look highly dreamlike. To capture the best moments, we attempted to catch the actions of turning around on the wooden steps, and also found angles on the roots of a giant banyan tree. Especially that close-up of smiling with hands framing the face—since the sitting posture on the grass was relatively low, the photographer utilized tree shadows to block part of the intense light, which perfectly softened the facial contours and made the overall look highly natural and vivid. It was a masterful display of portrait photography.

The atmospheric sense of this outdoor cosplay session is far more comfortable than an indoor studio shoot. During the shooting process, there were occasionally passing students around; although they would cast some glances, I could feel that everyone was very friendly. Wanting to completely present the character's quiet, nature-loving personality often requires holding a single pose for a long time or repeatedly adjusting the angle of the light, which heavily tests one's composure and stamina.

Overall, conducting this Verina cosplay photoshoot for Wuthering Waves at Chongqing University Huxi Campus was a practice with an exceptionally great experience. The superior ecological environment of Chongqing University provided a near-perfect backdrop for the character, and the resulting texture and the degree of integration between the character and the environment made both the photographer and me feel that this afternoon of rushing and sweating was not in vain. Whether for post-production or raw shots, this site selection added a lot of value to the work.
