Releasing this summer-themed Kurumi Tokisaki cosplay shoot, location choice fell on the artificial sand beach of an urban water park. Custom-made by Renxing Zhiyi, the outfit features a black-and-white ruffled two-piece swimsuit paired with a lightweight, breathable sheer purple outer wrap. Beyond offering sun protection under the intense heat, it lends a flowing, dynamic movement to the overall styling. To fully align with the character, red contact lenses were paired with long dark purple pigtails, accented by a black bow choker, small purple roses woven into the braids, and black-and-white wave patterns along the straw hat brim, capturing Kurumi Tokisaki's unique blend of cuteness and subtle mystery in a summer beach setting.

On the day of the shoot, temperatures soared under blinding sunlight, heating the white artificial sand beneath us. Walking barefoot or in flip-flops made the heat waves palpable—a truly authentic summer experience. Photographer Fiyu excels at capturing dynamic moments and manipulating light. To enrich the narrative of each shot, we prepped props including a clear inflatable swim ring, wooden platform, and orange-and-white striped cushions. Coupled with thatched sun umbrellas and the distant city skyline, the set evoked a relaxing urban vacation atmosphere.

Throughout the session, I explored various poses: standing, sitting, kneeling, and reclining on cushions. The full-length standing shot was selected for the cover, as this angle highlights the outfit's tailoring and body contours while the casual touch on the transparent swim ring enhances the resort lifestyle vibe. Black bow flip-flops on the feet echoed the main black-and-white theme while adding a casual, relaxed feel suited for beach walking. The sheer outer wrap responded naturally to breezes and movement, injecting organic fluid folds into static poses.

Makeup focus centered on eye contact and fine hair details; vivid red contacts shone brilliantly under bright light, serving as a captivating focal point. Though heat often wilts wigs, thorough initial styling kept hair volume light and fluffy in camera. Ruffled trims added rich visual texture, creating a clean contrast between black bows and white lace. During breaks between sets, we rested briefly on wooden chairs away from direct noon sunlight to adjust positioning and limb angles. Fiyu expertly harnessed light and shadows, turning orange-striped cushions, umbrellas, and white sand into warm background tones that contrasted sharply with the dark swimsuit and cool wig shades, rendering color-rich yet harmonious imagery.

Maintaining makeup during a Beach portrait shoot by the water is always a challenge, yet the base remained smooth and flawless. Enhanced by gentle post-processing color grading, the final outcome yielded a clear, refreshing summer texture. To convey the character's nonchalant confidence, we intentionally relaxed shoulder posture, allowing natural eye contact with the lens without forced or exaggerated gestures. Stepping onto the sand in this outfit brought an authentic sense of closeness to the character, and the photographer keenly caught these relaxed, vivid moments. Despite physical fatigue from the heat, the final outcome was deeply satisfying, fulfilling my wish for a summer water-themed Anime cosplay shoot. I hope everyone enjoys this cool summer slice and the unique charm of Date A Live.
