The material of this Shorekeeper outfit presents a very translucent texture under the convention hall lighting. The blue-and-white color scheme combined with semi-transparent tulle design gives the skirt a wonderful drape and ethereal flow when moving. I specially reinforced the blue butterfly hair ornament on my head to ensure it maintained its three-dimensional shape while moving and shooting from high angles. The wig trimming referenced the character's design; the straight bangs and loose hair strands on both sides needed special styling with a flat iron to present that slightly stern, ethereal vibe. The colored contacts were chosen in a high-pigment ice blue, which, paired with cool-toned eye makeup, fit the character's cold and aloof temperament even better in front of the camera.
The steel-structure background of the exhibition hall comes with an inherent industrial toughness, which formed a strong contrast with this soft and delicate outfit. During the shoot, the photographer had me sit on a folding ladder with my legs crossed—a pose that can effectively lengthen the leg lines while also showcasing the tulle details of the skirt hem. To highlight the limb line sense, light-colored strappy high-heeled sandals were paired on the feet, making them look visually more slender. Convention lighting tends to be quite messy, so the photographer brought constant-fill lights to supplement light from the front-side of the main light source, highlighting the highlights on the face and collarbone, making the skin texture look even more delicate on camera. The glowing butterfly in front of the calves is a post-production special effect; considering the overall image was a bit dark, adding this effect immediately brought out the fantasy vibe.
The second close-up photo was actually a test of facial details. I lowered my head slightly, looking straight into the lens, keeping expressions minimal to maintain the character's mysterious and distant setting. The crossed-arm pose demands quite a bit from the shoulder and neck lines, requiring constant attention to dropping the shoulders and keeping the back straight. Tulle and sheer fabrics easily make one look heavier on camera, so I consciously engaged my core during the shoot and paid attention to the outfit's fit. Because it was a convention venue, the surrounding pedestrian traffic was huge, and quickly getting into character amidst all kinds of gazes and noisy environments while keeping expressions from breaking was quite a test of concentration. Posing on the stairs wearing high heels for a long time was indeed somewhat exhausting, but seeing the light and shadow shining through the tulle onto the skin in the final photos, as well as the cold light refracted by the metal accessories, made all the preparation and on-site hard work feel completely worthwhile.
