This time, what I shot is a fan-made swimsuit styling of The Shorekeeper from Wuthering Waves. To restore that cool yet slightly dreamy feeling, I chose a light blue wig and did fine trimming to make the hair strands more layered and conform to the face shape. The edges of the wig were also softened to avoid looking too fake. In terms of makeup, to match the light-colored hairstyle, the base makeup was applied quite translucent, with concealer focusing on under the eyes, and eye makeup used a bit of glitter embellishment to emphasize the character's 2D texture, while the lip color was chosen to be a relatively natural nude pink tone, brightening the complexion overall without being too eye-catching, keeping the makeup look clean.
Costume is the core of this design. The main body is an off-white one-piece swimsuit, with blue scale texture decoration on the chest, looking like light spots refracted on the water surface. The off-shoulder tulle sleeves and the cutouts on the waist sides increase the overall lightness; this part of the tulle material is relatively soft and fits the skin without any foreign body sensation. The most special thing is the blue-and-white gradient transparent tulle train at the back. By the pool under the sunlight, with a slight breeze or when walking, the fluttering effect of the tulle skirt is extremely photogenic, and the light transmittance allows the color to present rich layers. In terms of accessories, the neck ornament on the neck and the gold bracelet on the wrist were matched according to the original artwork details, and the metallic texture produces fine highlights under the sunlight. Wearing no shoes on the feet, a white wide ribbon was tied into a bow at the ankle, visually lengthening the leg lines and also increasing the refinement of the styling.
The shooting location was chosen at an outdoor swimming pool; the weather was extremely sunny, and the sunlight directly hit the water surface, shimmering. I sat on the steps by the pool, utilizing the translucency of the water surface and the left glass platform to set off the gradient blue of the costume. Two props were prepared: one is a blue-and-white flower bouquet matching the color scheme of the outfit, and the other is a small blue butterfly prop. In Figure 1, both hands hold the flowers with the gaze looking towards the lens; this upright sitting posture can fully showcase the costume tailoring and leg lines of the whole body; while Figure 2 turns the body slightly sideways, letting a blue butterfly rest on the fingertips, which just happens to slightly showcase the tulle skirt train at the back, bringing a stronger sense of spatial depth to the composition. When shooting, attention should be paid to utilizing natural light to make the facial lighting as even as possible, while also paying attention to the shadows on the steps and adjusting the chin angle to avoid pitch-black shadows.
Post-processing color grading preserves the warmth of the sunlight and the cool-color contrast of the pool without excessive color casting, trying to present a translucent summer feel. This styling itself leans towards a daily fantasy style, so during the presentation, I tried some more natural and relaxed body movements rather than exaggerated combat poses, hoping to convey a state of the character in a leisure scenario. When cosplaying such outfits with large areas of tulle material, everyone can pay more attention to the effect of light penetrating the fabric, which will bring unexpected texture.
