This outdoor Swimsuit cosplay shoot for Wuthering Waves Aemeath wrapped up smoothly at last. Because the theme centered on a Summer beach, we made extensive pre-production preparations for the wardrobe and styling. The wig required meticulous handling; long pink hair easily blows out under harsh direct daylight, so while styling and smoothing it out, I paid special attention to the curvature of the bangs and the contouring effect of the sideburns to sculpt a more delicate facial structure. For hair ornaments, translucent blue fin-like accents were paired with pastel pink stars, crafted from lightweight materials to echo the nautical motif. In terms of makeup design, spending prolonged hours outdoors called for a waterproof and sweat-resistant base. The eye makeup blended soft pinks and blues to match color-coordinated contact lenses, spotlighting her spirited, playful aura. Liquid highlighter was dusted across my collarbones and shoulders to give skin a sun-kissed, translucent radiance under the sun.
The outfit featured a pastel pink and baby-blue swimsuit—the top was adorned with ruffles and seashell accents, while the bottom consisted of light blue shorts finished with delicate metallic chains at the waistline. To look my best before the lens, sun protection was critical; coastal UV rays are intense, demanding frequent reapplication of sunscreen. We scheduled the shoot after 3 PM when the sun softened, preventing harsh overhead shadows from falling across the face. For props, we brought a translucent pink swim ring, a straw sunhat, a blue-and-white gingham picnic mat, and fresh fruit. An inflatable ring is an incredibly functional prop: whether leaning against it or resting my chest over it, it provides natural bodily support that makes poses look effortless. The ice cream held in the photos melted quickly, making dynamic snapshots a true test of quick-draw shutter precision; I constantly calibrated wrist angles and lines of sight with the photographer to freeze the perfect frame.
Expression management was another central pillar of this shoot. Because the character overflows with sunny enthusiasm, keeping an active smile and an engaging gaze was essential. Lounging on my stomach with chin in hand or holding the ice cream with a gentle grin effortlessly evoked a laid-back holiday mood. Sitting on the beach with legs crossed or extended showcased bodily curves gracefully, harmonizing with the blue-and-white checkered mat for cohesive palette aesthetics. Wind is also a vital factor in a Seaside photoshoot: a gentle sea breeze makes long tresses flutter for cinematic motion, but strong gusts will whip hair flat across the face, requiring the photographer to seize split-second lulls to press the shutter.
Of course, shooting by the shore comes with handy practical details. First, always pack flip-flops—sand heated by the midday sun gets scorching hot. Second, keep touch-up essentials on hand; oil-absorbing sheets and setting powder are must-haves when perspiration threatens the makeup. If wearing pastel swimwear like mine, try to avoid sitting directly on damp, compact sand so the fabric doesn't get soiled with stubborn silt. Additionally, bringing a plush beach towel or a lightweight cover-up jacket is great for draping over your shoulders between takes to ward off chills and sunburn.
Shooting this set was not only a faithful tribute to Aemeath, but also an utterly joyful summer escape. Feeling the coastal breeze with ice cream in hand felt completely rejuvenating.
