Today, I shot an official cosplay set for Jsspsi from Arknights: Endfield at the botanical garden. I specifically chose the botanical garden as our outdoor location for its lush greenery and dappled natural sunlight, which harmonized effortlessly with her cool, aloof yet subtly vibrant presence.
When it came to Jsspsi's hair and makeup, there were countless intricate details to manage. First was the wig: long straight white hair accented with twin side hair buns, requiring generous amounts of styling wax and hairspray to keep the blunt bangs neat and the silhouette clean against the outdoor breeze. The branch-like black horns and pointed elf ears perched atop my head were the visual anchors of the look. The soft blue gradient at the horn tips and the amber-orange detailing at the roots were all painted entirely by hand; to keep the horns seated securely on my head, I criss-crossed multiple heavy-duty hairpins through the base. The outfit itself is intensely layered. The black choker and off-the-shoulder neckline, accented by metallic gold armlets, caught the sunlight with gorgeous specular highlights. The dark blue outer capelet features brown undulating wave patterns and black cross motifs; these prints were crafted onto weighted fabric to ensure a flowing, elegant drape while walking. Beneath it, the white mini dress incorporates subtle geometric jacquard textures, worn over light-colored grid-patterned Stockings (tights) to blend an airy aesthetic with sci-fi tech vibes. Navigating the botanical garden required continuous trekking, and the durability of the grid tights was definitely put to the test.
For posing, I wanted to embody Jsspsi's signature tsundere 'spring onion' aura. For the first shot, I angled sideways on a forest path, looking back over my shoulder with blue-gloved hands lightly raised, aiming for a guarded yet magnetic gaze accentuated by crimson eye makeup. In the second shot inside a wooden pavilion, leaning against the railing with crossed arms while looking down into the camera emphasized her cool detachment. The third was seated beside the pond, where glittering sunlight dancing across the water softened the ambient mood into something tranquil and poetic.
Shooting under natural light demands acute sensitivity to shifting illumination, especially beneath the tree canopy where dappled highlights across the face and shoulders need constant real-time adjustment. The eye makeup was intensified with diffused eyeshadow blending paired with luminous blue colored contacts, which rendered beautifully clear and translucent in outdoor ambient light. The biggest hurdle of an outdoor botanical shoot is undoubtedly navigating the terrain—carefully avoiding dewy lawns and mossy pond edges to protect the costume and props from stains or damage. Yet seeing the final interplay of light, shadow, and atmosphere made every bit of effort worth it. I truly hope this botanical garden Jsspsi cosplay set lets everyone experience her unique charm.
