This time the shoot chose a mall as the location, and the biggest challenge was how to maintain the character's quiet yet slightly playful state in a bustling environment. It took quite a lot of time to organize this sailor uniform before going out; the angle of the tie and the pleats of the skirt all had to be ironed flat. To recreate the character's leg lines, I chose slightly glossy skin-toned base stockings paired with white short socks, stepping into black platform Mary Jane shoes, so that walking around the mall all day wouldn't feel tiring. The wig was untangled in advance, and the red bow hair accessories on both sides were specially adjusted in height to ensure perfect symmetry in front of the lens.
Regarding the milk tea buying mentioned in the post, it was actually a candid shot. Brother was standing nearby carrying that dark green vintage school bag, and I asked him to go buy a cup of milk tea; his turning back to respond was captured by the lens, and the final picture turned out quite vivid. In the photo in front of the KOL light sign, we used the glowing white text behind as a background, which just outlined the character silhouettes. I held the drink with one hand and supported the acrylic standee with the other, while brother stood nearby with one hand in his pocket, and that casual atmospheric vibe came right out.
When walking next to the escalator, I pointed toward the distance, and brother cooperatively looked along. This kind of natural interaction is much more comfortable than forcing a pose. The last photo of sitting on the ground against the wall actually took nearly half an hour to shoot. Because we had to ensure the spreading arc of the skirt was just right, while brother's squatting posture had to be steady, and the strength of his hand placed on top of my head was also very particular—not too heavy to crush the wig, nor too light to look like there was no contact. The mall floor had strong reflections, and photographer Sushi took a long time finding an angle to avoid the cluttered reflected light.
This character styling leans toward a clear and translucent look in makeup color, with light blue contact lenses used for the eye makeup to echo the overall color tone. Location shooting must pay attention to fill lighting; the mall's top lighting sometimes leaves strange shadows on the face, so I brought an LED tube light to fill in face light at any time. The control of expressions shouldn't be too stiff, retaining a bit of agility; for instance, the mirror selfie photo was actually captured while adjusting the hair accessories. Although the light in the mall was ample, the color temperature varied greatly. During post-processing color grading, a uniformly cool-toned white balance was applied, which better highlighted the texture of the clothes and wig. This Genshin Impact cosplay actually focuses on an everyday feel and the tacit understanding between siblings, not needing too many exaggerated actions; simple standing and eye contact can convey the feeling of the setting. Overall, this Kamisato siblings project was shot very happily, and the action directing was mostly improvised.
