This location shoot was staged beneath the Putian Lianchuang Overpass. The massive geometric pillars and sweeping arched structure overhead naturally evoke an uncanny detachment from everyday reality, aligning flawlessly with the character's aesthetic. Regarding Takanashi Rikka, this marks my final outdoor photoshoot embodying her. To me, the 'Wicked Eye' is far more than just a chunibyo label—it represents her self-defense armor against the deep loneliness of the real world.

During pre-production, faithfully executing the wardrobe and prop nuances was paramount. The deep-purple short wig was textured in subtle layers, keeping wispy bangs airy across the brow, anchored firmly by her signature white medical eyepatch to establish the character's distinct identity from the start. This purple-and-black Lolita-style ensemble boasts rich visual layering: a dark capelet, a pale-lilac ruffled inner blouse with bowknots, and waist corset lacing, all requiring mindful smoothing to stay pristine before the lens. To create visual elongation, the lower half was paired with black stockings (knee-high socks) trimmed with delicate white lace and tiny black bows at the cuffs, finished with classic brown leather loafers.

The purple lace-trimmed parasol served as the narrative centerpiece of this shoot. To unlock dynamic visual tension, we explored holding it open, collapsed, and brandished mid-motion. The pink lace ruffles bordering the canopy formed a vibrant chromatic contrast against the cool-toned environment, instantly anchoring the visual focal point. Ambient light was delightfully soft that day; the shadowed underpass carried an inherent low-temperature cool cast, reducing the need for heavy post-color grading and yielding evocative mood straight out of the camera.

For choreography, we moved well beyond static poses. To channel her buoyant energy, I wove in kinetic movement—leaping, glancing over the shoulder, balancing lightly on one foot, and adopting a confident hands-on-hips stance. As the skirt flared mid-spin and mid-jump, revealing the black stockings and leg contours, it enriched compositional depth significantly. While kinetic motion was tricky to freeze cleanly, the resulting frames captured an authentic candid vitality. One challenge was that wearing the white eyepatch over my right eye restricted peripheral vision, requiring extra mindfulness when gauging spatial depth and finding the lens angle. To refine character texture, I tempered overt theatricality, translating chunibyo haughtiness into an organic, lived-in temperament.

During takes, gusts of wind occasionally caught the hemline, demanding vigilance against wardrobe slips while sustaining composed facial expressions. Wearing black stockings and knee-high socks not only honored the design but flattered leg lines, creating a striking aesthetic collision of softness against cold, raw concrete. As an archival set, these photographs chronicle my personal understanding and interpretation of her within this space, forever freezing her tender defiance and singular spirit into the frame.
