This photoshoot for these Convention photos was truly one of the greatest tests of physical control and prop handling I've experienced recently. Jahoda's character design naturally carries a potent charm blending machinery and the wasteland; to convey the imposing presence befitting the top combatant of Nod-Krai, I poured immense effort into both the costume and props.
First, regarding the outfit: the overall color scheme is centered on black and gray, accented by bright red and pink. The headpiece was specially customized—cat-ear contours integrated with red crosses and metallic rivets, complemented by vintage red-tinted goggles perched on top, creating an immediate focal point. To add layered depth, I chose a dark gray scarf adorned with complex metallic buckles, while the cape's bright pink inner lining forms a vibrant visual contrast against the dark outer garments when caught in the wind. Since Jahoda's Genshin Impact design features a midriff-baring cut with shorts, extensive adjustments were made to skin-tone prep and leg visuals. The right leg features sheer Stockings with black straps, while the left is bare with a white boot-cover accented by metal buckles. This asymmetric styling is not only faithful to the design, but also accentuates the muscular contour of the legs during dynamic posing.
The shooting location was an indoor venue accented by industrial aesthetics, and the vintage red scooter in the background served as the ultimate touch. The classic red-and-black palette and the vehicle's metallic sheen resonated seamlessly with Jahoda's mechanical elements. To nail Jahoda's domineering aura, my pose design drew inspiration from mechanical engineers and heavy artillery gunners. Posing with the left hand on the hip while raising the mechanical hand cannon—weighing several pounds—in the right hand allowed its cyan coating and golden gears to radiate remarkable texture under cool-toned lighting. Maintaining a straight back, sinking my center of gravity, and casting a fiercely confident, almost haughty gaze into the camera was physically demanding, leaving my arms trembling between takes.
Unlike studio shoots, taking Convention photos involves navigating a complex mixture of ambient daylight and artificial venue lighting. To emphasize the metallic textures of the costume and carve out facial contours, we deliberately positioned at a side-rim angle. The makeup focused intensely on eye details: golden-yellow cosmetic lenses paired with reddish blending around the outer corners sharpened the gaze. The wig design was equally distinctive; the thick braid on the right had to be pre-shaped with hairspray and wire support to maintain a clean vertical drape against the billowing cape. Throughout the full day of shooting—from garment adjustments and prop hauling to fine-tuning poses—every shutter click tested both endurance and patience. Jahoda's charm lies not only in her hardcore mechanical gear, but in that bold, unapologetic vitality she displays across the wasteland. These Convention photos represent the finest summary of my convention journey and deepened my understanding of portraying her movements; I look forward to tackling even more challenging action shots in upcoming outdoor shoots.
