This New Year special edition Paimon cosplay styling combines red-and-white winter wear with the character's signature elements, creating a visual effect filled with festive warmth. The black armor piece on the chest with gold trim yields a wonderful metallic reflection under flashlights. The golden cross-star crown atop the head serves as the soul of this outfit, pairing with silver-white short hair to emphasize the character's uniquely nimble and playful charm. Behind, the deep blue semi-transparent cape printed with white star and moon motifs sways gently with body movements, enriching the layers of this Cosplay photography look so it doesn't feel plain against the dominant red scheme.

The shooting location was set in a dimly lit bar, where the wooden counter and glassware provided a perfect backdrop. Offering New Year blessings to everyone in such thick, cute winter wear amidst a rich holiday vibe is truly a meaningful ritual. Whether in real life or during our 2D journey, I hope to bring this warmth to everyone.

For makeup and hair styling, to match the silver-white short hair, the eye makeup used purplish-pink tones to make the gaze look gentler while echoing the metallic shine of hair ornaments. The wig required careful setting; though the curled locks on both sides of the forehead look natural, considerable effort went into styling them behind the scenes. Reviewing these light-and-shadow-interwoven shots on camera after the session brought a genuine sense of happiness for this winter and New Year. As a cosplayer, stepping in front of the lens in character attire to restore their expressions and emotions is inherently fulfilling. Character design in Genshin Impact always pays great attention to details, and even a smaller character like Paimon offers rich possibilities in materials and color palettes.

When the wooden counter texture and dark curtain behind created a natural visual transition, light striking directly onto the outfit felt like breaking the fourth wall, bringing anime-inspired vitality vividly into reality. The chosen fabric was a slightly granular red velvet, giving a soft, fuzzy visual appearance with a warm winter touch. The golden geometric lines on the chest guard and that distinctive cross-star crown are my favorite details; to fit the character's gentle aesthetic, a matte gold paint was used so it wouldn't glisten harshly under strong lights, maintaining a soft metallic texture. Capturing the sparklers at the moment of ignition was quite tricky, requiring synchronization between shutter speed and burning halo. Luckily, smooth tacit understanding with the photographer captured several shots of flying sparks without overexposing the lighting.

If there were any specific difficulty in this shoot, conveying the right gaze was paramount. It required maintaining Paimon's playful nature while projecting a firm resolve to protect the Traveler when raising sparklers or showing red envelopes. Adjusting expressions throughout the shoot helped hit a balance between adorable-derpy and dependable-steady. The reflection of light on eyelashes and pupils was especially pronounced in dark environments, making the gaze appear livelier. I hope these photos share this joyous New Year atmosphere alongside Paimon's cute yet reliable nature—no need for extravagant words, just simply wearing beloved attire, holding fitting props, and shining the moment lights go on: that is the purest moment of cosplay.
