[Altria cosplay] A Cold Shadow on the Throne, Strolling Through the Eerie Blue Hall

This Cosplay photography session takes the Altria Alter look from the Fate series as its theme. In order to accurately present the character's unique coolness and arrogance, we made a lot of preparations in makeup, styling, and scene construction around this combination of a deep blue halter backless dress and black tights.

The upper body garment utilizes a deep blue silk-textured fabric. The metal pendant and collar on the chest serve as the crowning touch, adding detail contrast to the solid-colored clothing. The biggest highlight lies in the huge bow on the back and the backless design. When shooting side angles and looking-back shots, it beautifully displays the elegant lines of the back, neck, and shoulders, while the tightening effect of the long black gloves on the arms makes the entire upper body proportion look sleeker. The silver-white wig is trimmed neatly, with the sidelocks on both sides fitting the face shape. Combined with a cool-toned base makeup and red-gray toned eyelashes and eyeshadow, it creates a non-human "elf ears" effect. The pointed ears are also a highly conspicuous feature of this look, and we specifically secured them during styling to avoid any shifting when turning the head.

The black pleated miniskirt and black tights paired for the lower body are a continuation of the character's iconic elements. During the sitting shoot, especially in the composition with crossed legs, one can clearly see the highlight texture of the black tights under the light and shadow. Paired with the black high heels on the feet, it not only elongates the leg visuals but also makes the posture appear more calm and confident. The overall black, white, and blue color scheme of the clothing forms a distinct cool-toned visual system.

As for the weapon, this black greatsword with red patterns is quite hefty. When holding the weapon, to prevent the sword from looking heavy and clumsy, I had to deliberately look for the center of gravity while posing, leaning the sword body toward my side or letting it rest naturally on the ground. Both scenarios allow for excellent interaction between the weapon and the character, preventing the weapon from overpowering the subject due to its massive size.

The shooting environment utilized a Gothic throne and a birdcage with a crystal lamp as decorations. The quatrefoil Gothic arched window background in the back presented a strong sense of silhouette under the eerie blue side lighting, and the cool-toned atmosphere fit perfectly with the carvings of the black throne. The black marble material on the floor had high reflectivity, clearly reflecting the inverted image of the shoes and adding a bit of spatial dimension to the frame. The warm-toned small lights inside the birdcage served as an embellishment, adding a touch of warmth to the ice-cold blue and black dominant color palette, making it look well-designed without being overly oppressive.

Facing the camera on the day of the shoot, considering the character's cold and arrogant personality, I intentionally withheld any extra expressions, relying primarily on the piercing power of my gaze to convey the character's sense of oppression and cool temperament. From sitting upright on the throne holding the greatsword in a frontal composition to turning my back and using the lines of my neck and shoulders for a looking-back shot, every angle required adjusting the body's focal points of strength—especially tightening the core during sitting poses and distributing the center of gravity in the legs during standing poses—to be natural without appearing stiff. To match the angle of the light, we tried a variety of sitting and standing poses, ensuring that while showcasing the leg lines, the strapped parts of the costume did not create strange wrinkles.

When handling the light and shadow of this set of photos, the photographer adopted a typical combination of dark-toned side lighting and blue ambient light. This lighting layout can beautifully outline the facial contours of the character while allowing the patterns and material reflections on the dark clothing to show through. The final finished photos everyone sees basically restore the character's proper aura to the maximum extent. This style of Gothic style cosplay photography not only requires a high level of restoration in terms of apparel and props but also tests the expression of aura in front of the lens. The cooperation with the photographer during the process was very seamless, especially during the lighting adjustment phase; every micro-adjustment made the contrast between light and dark more layered. Every time the shoot ended and I took off the high heels, although my legs and feet would be a bit sore, I was still very happy to be able to leave such a cool, detail-rich frozen moment in the lens.
