Today in the studio, we captured the 'Maid Supremacy' styling for Chisa from Wuthering Waves, and the costume details were far more intricate than I had anticipated. The ensemble is anchored around a black, red, and white color palette, with multi-layered ruffles cascading along the neckline, cuffs, and skirt hem, complemented by deliberate placement of red ribbon crisscrosses. To faithfully recreate the cat ears and bells from the character's headpiece, our prop master crafted an exceptionally refined three-dimensional build. Once fitted, the wig styling had to be fine-tuned in tandem—the blunt bangs and straight long black hair not only needed silky fluidity, but also required anti-glare control under studio strobes to maintain a clean, crisp chromatic contrast against the black-and-red attire.
For cosmetics, I wore crimson contact lenses and deepened the outer-corner gradient smudging to endow my gaze with piercing intensity. The trickiest prop was undoubtedly the black cat tail extending behind me: to preserve an organic, poised upward curve, we threaded invisible wire armatures inside and adorned it with a red ribbon bow and a golden bell. Stepping into the white pantyhose stockings and black patent-leather Mary Janes, the look locked together seamlessly, striking an exact equilibrium between maid charm and gothic mystique.
Great thought was poured into the studio staging. We dressed the scene with wooden crates overflowing with red apples and welcomed a live black cat sporting a crimson bowtie. The first posing sequence had me seated inside a colossal transparent martini glass prop. Maintaining a sideways seated posture on such a prop demanded unyielding core stabilization and precise calibration of my crossed legs. The bowl was carpeted in crimson rose petals; shooting from a subtle low upward angle showcased the lines of my legs and White stockings to their fullest. Because sitting atop a stemmed chalice is precarious and the glass tilted with the slightest twitch, I had to anchor my balance while managing micro-expressions—projecting a composed, subtly condescending gaze true to Chisa's 'Maid Supremacy' persona.
The second setup shifted to standing poses. I balanced a black lacquer serving tray topped with petit fours in one hand while steadying a dainty dessert fork in the other. Beside me, a vintage black pedestal table displayed a wire birdcage and black roses, flanked by antique hardcover books strewn across the floor. This composition needed to harmonize the tiered skirt drapery, the white legwear, and the roaming black cat into a cohesive frame. The biggest challenge was managing the real feline: though devastatingly photogenic in his red bow, he was entirely unpredictable, requiring rapid-fire shutter bursts whenever he approached the apples to snatch organic interactions. Simultaneously, to accentuate the maid dress, I kept my shoulders opened back with poised, graceful hand placement, utilizing rim light to etch elegant contours across my collarbones and ruffles.
Studio lighting was built upon a cool porcelain skin base, dialed in to punch up the bold contrast of the black-and-red fabrics. The photographer introduced strong side rim lighting, which enhanced the tactile sheen of both the White stockings and raven hair while carving crisp dimensional depth around the subject. In post-production, we deliberately preserved the lush, vivid crimson of the apples and roses to anchor visual focus. Though meticulous and exhausting, every refined pose and prop adjustment paid off in the finished frames. I hope viewers can immerse themselves in this nostalgic, dark fairy-tale ambiance and appreciate the singular aura channeled beneath the maid apron.
