Wearing this limited Qipao cosplay edition of Dorothy from GODDESS OF VICTORY: NIKKE truly gave me a full taste of what it means to pay the price for beauty. To recreate this look, the tailoring of this qipao alone underwent several trial revisions. Dorothy's demeanor in Goddess of Victory is naturally elegant and opulent, and adapting that into a qipao cut with such a sky-high slit severely tests body proportions and posture. Because the side slit is cut so high, I had to wear safety undergarments throughout the entire shoot; even the slightest movement required extreme mindfulness of camera angles to avoid accidental exposure. To keep the final images clean and stunning, editing out those undergarments frame by frame in post-production was a mammoth task that only retouchers could truly appreciate.

Taking on this cosplay was genuinely challenging. A qipao demands an immaculate fit; even the slightest flaw in physique or posture gets magnified under the lens. To do justice to this dress, I engaged in targeted posture conditioning before the shoot. Standing within the pastel pink-toned set, wearing this white-and-pink embroidered qipao created an unexpectedly dreamy fusion of Eastern and Western aesthetics. I intentionally chose low-saturation tones paired with soft lighting, aiming to give the images a breezy, translucent texture.

Speaking of being slightly out of character (OOC), there admittedly is a touch of it. The canon Dorothy often carries a commanding presence or an aloof distance, but my personal facial features and styling leaned a bit sweeter, which, combined with the pink wig and cute bun hairdo, produced a rather charming, delicate vibe. Though I strove to channel that proud, aristocratic elegance through my eyes and gestures, the finished photos still feel a bit on the soft side, so I want to extend my sincere apologies for any OOC to everyone who loves Dorothy!

The shooting process itself was filled with joy. The combination of white tulle drapes and floral walls, alongside golden birdcages and faux blossoms everywhere, made me feel like I was posing for promotional posters in a princess's palace. Because the qipao's slit was so daring, sitting on the chair left me anxious about how to position my legs, prompting the photographer to constantly remind me to engage my core and keep my spine upright. Wearing high heels for hours made my feet sore, yet seeing how gracefully my leg lines harmonized with the garment's silhouette in the raw shots made those grueling hours completely worthwhile.

I made several fine adjustments to the makeup as well. To complement the pink-and-white qipao and the overall set, the foundation was kept sheer and luminous, with soft pink hues sweeping across the eyeshadow and blush. I chose purplish-pink contact lenses to soften my gaze rather than making it overly sharp. The wig was styled with elevated crown volume and double side buns to accentuate a sweet, dainty charm. While it deviates slightly from her canon aura, in my heart this was a thoroughly fulfilling creative challenge. With this set wrapped and carefully packed away, it's time to prep for the next character, and I look forward to bringing you even more faithful and dynamic work next time.
