For this Genshin Impact Vesna cosplay, the focus of the early preparation was placed on restoring the texture of the costume. To achieve that lightweight yet fantasy-like overall effect, the blue upper skirt used a fabric with a certain crispness without appearing heavy. The huge pink-and-white color-blocked bow at the waist required multiple adjustments to the pattern and supporting structure to always maintain a three-dimensional shape during the shoot. The furry decoration around the neckline and shoulders is actually very difficult to capture in terms of texture under sunlight, requiring constant communication with the photographer regarding reflection angles. The wig was styled in light gold, with a blue gemstone on the forehead, and the elf ears also needed to be fitted through makeup and styling. Combined together, these details created that half-elf, half-fairy feeling.
The transparent wings behind are the highlight of this look, requiring a balance of transparency and color refraction to present that dreamy luster similar to glass or butterfly wings under strong light. Although the sword in hand looks lightweight, the holding posture and weight balance are also aspects that need attention.
The shooting venue was located indoors, decorated with rich green plants, dead wood, and moss, simulating a fantasy forest atmosphere. That retro armchair looked very narrative-rich among the green leaves. To match the character's lively personality during the shoot, I tried many dynamic poses, such as lifting one leg or sitting on a chair with legs extended forward. It was necessary to showcase the lines of the long legs without deforming the costume due to overly large movements.
For me, maintaining a non-utilitarian interest in cosplay is very important. Being interested in the richness and complexity of the character herself, exploring the stories behind her, and then creating sincerely. Every cosplay is an immersive experience—feeling her mood when holding the sword and realizing her stance in this fantasy worldview. Every time the shutter is clicked, it's a re-understanding of the character, rather than just taking photos for check-in. This heartfelt love supports the meticulous refinement from makeup and styling to post-processing every single time. Although the whole process is very energy-consuming, the moment I see the final photos, I feel it is all completely worth it. To capture the light spots of sunlight filtering through the leaves onto the skirt hem during the shoot, we waited for several specific time slots. The weight of the prop sword has a very solid feel when wielded, which also helped me better enter the character's state. Regarding the understanding of the character, I hope it's not just a superficial reproduction, but more about conveying her complex inner world through body language and demeanor—whether it's the boldness when facing adventure or the gentleness when alone. The color scheme of this outfit is very refreshing, with blue and white alternating with a pink bow, visually very bright and cheerful, so I also shot a few sets of shots with smiles, hoping to present a sunny and bright feeling. In fact, every time a complex cosplay is completed, from early material selection and prop making to makeup cooperation on the shooting day, it is a test of patience and love. But it is precisely this non-utilitarian interest that allows me to maintain creative motivation when facing tedious details. There's no need to care too much about traffic or other people's evaluations; focusing on the richness of the character herself and sincerely throwing oneself into creation is in itself an extremely joyful thing. I hope every person who loves cosplay can find their own joy and resonance within the characters, and sincerely experience the unique feelings brought by each portrayal. I will continue to persist in this attitude to present more characters I love.
