Before shooting this look with a long pink wig and bunny ears, the photographer and I actually made many plans for the scene and lighting. Because there were many details in the props and clothing this time, mixing a highly Japanese-style scene with modern outfits required the final photos to have a 2D anime atmosphere without losing the true texture of reality, making early communication particularly important.
The wig chosen was a cherry blossom pink with higher saturation, paired with long white bunny ears and topped with a delicate cherry blossom hair accessory as an embellishment. The elements on the head were quite rich, but fortunately, the skeleton of the bunny ear outfit had good support, so they didn't collapse or tilt throughout the full day of shooting. The makeup tried its best to match this agile feeling, with a clear foundation, focusing on outlining the eyes and choosing the lip color, providing a natural and generous visual feedback.
The costume part was a very layered combination. The neckline of the white shirt on the upper body was full of design, and the red bow tie was eye-catching without appearing overly complex. Combined with the strap design at the cuffs, the overall tailoring was very slim-fit. The lower body featured a navy blue pleated miniskirt paired with black tights, which beautifully toned down the bright colors of the upper body. The black garter ring on the leg added some design ingenuity, while the black platform long boots on the feet were a key highlight; the golden patterns and red stitching details on the boot openings had a great texture under the light, providing a more stable visual center of gravity for both standing and sitting poses.
The scene arrangement for this shoot was highly characteristic. The Japanese wooden sliding paper doors in the background and the wooden lanterns nearby provided a warm base color, while the red umbrella, grey stone lanterns, and trimmed pine bonsai were all classic elements of Japanese-style photography. What surprised me the most wasn't these traditional props, but the cup of bubble tea placed on the wooden table during shooting breaks; it unexpectedly became a very natural interactive prop, breaking the rigidness of staged poses and adding a touch of everyday life to the overall atmosphere.
The photographer's lighting was exceptionally soft, making the overall frame highly translucent, and the special effects of falling petals gave the photos a more dynamic sense of imagery. Especially the full-body image in a sitting position, the flow of the clothes, the drape of the skirt hem, and the styling of the long boots were all comprehensively displayed. During the shoot, to capture the most natural state, I would often adjust my sitting posture or gently lean against the props, smiling at the camera, or playfully winking; these snapshots captured turned out to be more infectious than deliberately staged poses.
For a look like this pink palette that is quite selective about skin tone and lighting, controlling the relaxation of expressions during actual shooting is crucial. Absolute sweetness can sometimes feel overwhelming; bringing a bit of composure and casualness can change the temperament of the entire photo. Backed by the cherry blossom scene elements, whether picking up a fallen flower in my hand or gently touching my hair strands, nice frame interactions could be generated.
Upon receiving the sample photos this time, I felt the overall expression highly met my expectations for this look. Whether it's the color coordination of the costume or the utilization of scene elements, it highlights the character's agile and confident traits. Behind a good cosplay work lies the perfect fit of clothing tailoring, the meticulousness of wig styling, and the deliberate consideration of various angles during shooting. Although standing positions and details had to be repeatedly adjusted during the process, seeing the final photos made everything completely worth it, and the finished results feel highly gratifying.
