[Sandrone Cosplay] Genshin Impact: The Collision of Mechanical Style and Elegance

This set of photos mainly aims to present the visual portrayal of Sandrone within the Genshin Impact lore setting, focusing on capturing the unique collision between a Mechanical style research background and gorgeous, vintage attire.

Regarding the costume, the version selected this time is a dark-toned battle dress set. The upper body features an off-the-shoulder design, beautifully highlighting the collarbone and neck lines, while black collar ornaments, golden geometric patterns, and red trims inject a touch of elegance into the serious tone. The arm sleeves are layered, keeping the upper arms covered while using short white gloves for a clean connection that enhances visual crispness. The black fabric of the skirt uses a subtle sheen material that, combined with golden layers and dark motifs below, creates natural light and shadow transitions under studio lighting.

For the headpiece, key adjustments were made during crafting to increase the fluffiness of the front white ruffled edge. Paired with black and red bows and hair ties, it neatly flatters the head shape. To keep the Blonde hair style fixed during shooting, a dense wig cap was used, with hair wax and setting spray applied to refine the direction of strands, ensuring the heavy straight bangs and sideburns stayed pristine despite movement.

Refining the makeup took quite a bit of thought. To align with the character design, beyond a flawless base, the focus was set on eye makeup. Cool tones were used to accentuate eye contours, paired with blue-gray contact lenses to give her gaze a calm, aloof, yet not overly harsh impression. Instead of high-saturation colors, a matte cinnamon shade was chosen for the lips to maintain overall facial softness.

Scene selection and prop coordination played a major role in this cosplay project. The prop artist specifically constructed a large vintage gear clock as a backdrop; its massive wooden dial and intricate mechanical structures added immense realism to the shoot, evoking the illusion of recording time inside a secret attic. Additionally, red petals scattered on the floor created a warm-cool contrast against the overall golden lighting, adding emotional depth and narrative flavor to an otherwise rational visual.

For lighting design, the photographer used a warm yellow primary light source to simulate afternoon sunlight streaming into an indoor setting. While this light places high demands on outfit materials to avoid overexposure, it successfully softened the contrast between golden accents and the black skirt, resulting in a harmonious and comfortable color balance.

Due to the complex costume structure and background prop setup, the shoot required significant physical exertion. When posing, seated or leaning postures were deliberately chosen to display the fabric's natural drape and avoid rigid straight-standing poses. Furthermore, as the off-the-shoulder cut demands crisp neck and shoulder lines, simple posture adjustments were made prior to shooting.

During post-processing, we chose not to alter the original light direction, instead enhancing the saturation of golden-yellow tones to yield a painted, oil-like aesthetic. Shadow areas were softened to prevent crushed blacks while preserving fine fabric textures, rendering the final image richer and more delicate.

Overall, this work strives to stay as faithful as possible to the character's intrinsic atmosphere. The output efficiency was great, and the team synergy remained well-coordinated from prep to final renders. Recreating a character steeped in classical scientific mystery through a real-world shoot is challenging yet immensely rewarding. Balancing character fidelity while preserving a personal aesthetic for light and shadow was the most satisfying part of this shoot.
