Cosplaying Wishadel at this year's CICF anime convention finally fulfilled a long-held dream. Preparing the costume, makeup, and props for this design previously took a great deal of effort—from the layered styling of the wig to the textural contrast between the high-gloss leather and tactical pouches. To ensure authentic fidelity even under the intense lighting of the convention floor, I opted for a breathable makeup style, where the amber contact lenses in particular served as a crucial element to elevate the character's cold, aloof presence.

For the shoot, I owe immense thanks to the photographer and retoucher, Niu Niu. This time, we used a Fujifilm X-M5 body paired with a 27mm f/1.2 lens. The creamy bokeh provided by the wide aperture proved extremely practical in a chaotic convention environment, beautifully isolating the subject from the background. The equivalent 27mm focal length was just right for capturing snapshots in such tight spaces, offering a striking perspective that brought out remarkable visual tension. A tilted composition like the one in photo four truly tests corner sharpness, yet this setup delivered rock-solid results.

In terms of lighting, the setup at the Godox booth deserves immense praise—it maxed out the atmosphere completely. The industrial yellow caution tape, oversized safety barrels, and dark gray backdrop panels provided incredible creative freedom. While posing, I intentionally planned several movements to lean into this wasteland and techwear vibe. For instance, in the shot where I sat on the floor, propping up my leg allowed the distressed details of the Black stockings to shine, while the pairing of high-heeled tactical boots and black tights caught the light to trace out leg lines that I was thoroughly thrilled with. In the shot leaning against the oil drum, the gleaming reflections off the leather jacket, combined with reaching outward toward the lens, created an engaging sense of intimacy with the camera.

The greatsword prop was actually quite hefty, yet in front of the lens, I had to make it look effortless. To prevent the weapon from appearing clunky, I lowered my center of gravity and engaged my waist to drive the arm motion, ensuring that the character looked effortlessly badass while fully showcasing the sword's massive presence. To complement the battle-worn aesthetic, I even applied a matte finish to certain tears and graffiti markings to prevent excessive glare from undermining the gritty texture. When striking poses, I deliberately looked for angles with even facial lighting, utilizing bounce boards and ambient booth lighting to illuminate the face and sharpen the catchlights in my eyes. I'm beyond delighted to leave behind such a satisfying record at the con; every single detail of this outfit is well worth zooming in on.
