Wearing this Ram cosplay spin-off styling at the Dongguan Firefly Anime Game Carnival fulfilled a little wish of mine. For the costume, instead of the standard maid outfit, I chose this layered tiered dress in a red, black, and white color scheme. The ruffled hemlines were generously crafted, with cascading layers of tulle and satin woven together to create a naturally voluminous bounce when walking; the trade-off, however, was that crouching poses required extra caution, as the skirt could easily drag on the floor or flip up if I wasn't careful. The black bat wings and Demon tail props on my back were the defining highlights of the entire look; the tail had wire inside so it could be bent into any shape, though during the shoot it still had to be securely pinned inside the corseted waistband to keep it from slipping off.
In hair and makeup styling, the pink short wig was cut with relatively blunt straight bangs covering the right eye, adding a hint of mystery. The white floral lace headpiece atop my head and the studded choker around my neck created an edgy yet sweet contrast. To balance the overall proportions, the lower half was paired with Black stockings and platform heeled boots, which visually elongated my leg lines and accentuated body curves during crouching poses. I chose pink contact lenses paired with red blending at the outer corners of the eyes, giving them a vivid sparkle under the camera flash.
The lighting at the convention was quite complex with predominantly harsh top lights, so we deliberately sought out a corner with a cleaner background, leveraging depth of field to blur out passersby behind me. The crouching shot took multiple candid attempts to finalize: because the skirt hem was so voluminous, I had to gently sweep it aside by hand to fully reveal the Black stockings and boots, all while keeping my upper body upright and neck angled properly. The Demon tail conveniently formed a leading line in the lower left of the frame, guiding the viewer's focus right back to the subject.
As a coser, every time I take on Ram, I invest extra dedication into her demeanor. Ram's character intrinsically carries a singular aura, so my gaze couldn't wander during the shoot; I had to maintain a slightly aloof downward gaze or an intense, focused stare into the lens. The fabric of this costume was quite heavy, and walking around the convention hall all day felt rather stuffy, but seeing the fold details of the dress and the prop textures faithfully recreated in the final images made every drop of sweat worth it. The venue at this Dongguan Firefly Anime Game Carnival was spacious with respectable lighting, giving the raw photos excellent texture, so post-processing only required fine-tuning skin tones and contrast. Every convention is a test of physical stamina and patience—from fixing wigs and fitting props to collaborating with the photographer on angles, every step requires meticulous care.
