[Lappland cosplay] Arknights Lappland the Decadenza anime convention immersive record

This time shooting Lappland the Decadenza at the anime convention, the overall style leaned toward dark and frantic. In terms of clothing, the black leather jacket and short skirt paired with a red tie create a very strong visual impact. To restore the character's wildness, I specially prepared a wig, beast ears, and a huge white tail, and painted tattoo patterns on my thighs. The metal arm guards and black long boots on the arms added a heavy-duty feel. At the anime convention site, I tried shooting with the Sony A7C II; the straight-out-of-camera colors and sense of presence of this machine are truly well-deserved, capable of nicely restoring the luster of the black leather jacket and the heavy texture of the red cape. The background is an industrial-style venue, and the cool-toned lighting fixtures on the top create a cold, stern, and murderous atmosphere.
When shooting dynamic images, I tried hard to maintain a suspended or leaping posture, with arms open and fingers slightly bent. Because post-processing would add three huge wolf-shaped phantoms and a large number of fragment effects, I needed to let my body language express a strong sense of explosive energy. The gaze needs to be cold and stern, staring at the camera, showcasing Lappland's unique madness and effortless composure. Those wolf souls composed of gray-black geometric fragments are the soul of this shoot; on-site, I tried my best to imagine their existence, making the direction of my exertion coordinate with the flow of the effects.
The state of Lappland the Decadenza is actually not just superficial madness, but also carries a sense of loneliness of fighting in the wasteland. The classic color scheme of red, black, and gray makes the contrast of the image extremely high, heavily testing the camera's dynamic range and color reproduction. The autofocus speed of the Sony A7C II is extremely fast, allowing me to not worry about missing focus when making various large movements. The shooting environment of an anime convention tends to be messy, but relying on a large aperture and appropriate angles, a pure combat atmosphere can still be captured.
This time, red sharp fragments and smoke effects were also utilized to enhance the dynamism of the image. Although the raw straight-out-of-camera negatives were already great, after adding the effects, that sense of tearing and sharpness became even more prominent. Although the overall outfit pairing features a short skirt, the combination of long boots and leg tattoos instead highlights a kind of untouchable coolness rather than pure sweetness. Shooting such combat-attributed characters at an anime convention is indeed physically demanding, especially while wearing a heavy leather jacket. However, seeing the immersive blockbuster effect in the finished photos makes it all feel worthwhile. I hope this set of convention photos lets everyone feel Lappland's unique charm on the battlefield.
Actually, at the anime convention site, the surrounding environmental noise was extremely loud. To immerse myself in the inner world of Lappland the Decadenza, I deliberately found a quiet corner before the shoot to rest my eyes and clear my mind, bringing myself into the mindset surrounded by war and the wasteland. Details on the props could not be sloppy either, such as the scratches on the metal arm guards, the looseness of the tie, and even the metal buckles on the long boots—these are all key parts constituting the character's realism. The makeup artist handled the eye makeup to be relatively sharp, which, paired with the white wig and beast ears, made the overall facial contours look more three-dimensional.
In terms of lighting, since the venue ceiling lights were cool white, I slightly adjusted the angle during the shoot, allowing the side backlight to outline the texture of the white hair, while using a reflector to fill light on the face to ensure the catchlights in the eyes were not lost. The image stabilization performance of the Sony A7C II provided huge help during such handheld candid shots, especially when I performed some jumping and sudden stop actions, the image could still remain clear. After adding the wolf soul effects and broken geometric fragments in post-production, the spatial sense and depth of the entire frame were completely torn open. This set of photos is not just simple role-playing, but also a visualization of the character's inner world. Every time I portray such a character with combat effects, it is a double test of physical strength and acting skills, but this is precisely the charm of cosplay.
