Let's jump straight into it. This set of Arknights Zuo Le cosplay convention photos was completed in the dedicated photography zone at the convention. Since both foot traffic and camera positions were quite tight on-site, we specifically picked an area where light stands were relatively concentrated to handle the complex hall light sources. Besides our photography team, there were many friends getting ready for group shoots or roaming free-photography. While noisy, this environment genuinely fueled our passion and engagement for the shoot.
The costume prepared this time actually contains a lot of details. The centerpiece is a white robe with a Traditional Chinese style feel, featuring finely traced silver-white patterns along the edges. The chest and collar area are pieced with dark fabric, where frog buttons and dark blue tassels form the visual focal point. The hem and waist structure are major highlights: the blue wide belt uses a rigid fabric with a woven texture, interlaced with metal buckles and cord knots. Paired with the blue inner hem extending down to the calves below the belt, it beautifully elongates body proportions. The wig is dark ink-blue with a small topknot at the crown, intentionally styled with a feathery, layered texture. Combined with pointed elf ear props and a cool, aloof makeup look matching the character setting, the overall accuracy of the styling translates wonderfully into actual shot results.
For props, three items were prepared: a bamboo fan, a white flute, and a wooden staff. The surface of the bamboo fan features hand-painted ink wash bamboo leaves accompanied by a red seal mark, allowing hand gestures during gripping to coordinate smoothly with the folding angle of the fan ribs. The white flute is very striking, tied at the end with a bright red tassel that creates a brilliant visual pop in captured blowing poses. The shooting pace was compact; due to complex lighting, we had to adjust softbox positions when changing angles to control shadows. Close-ups holding the flute or folding fan severely test coordination between props and arm posture—for example, when posing to play the flute, one must keep the instrument perfectly horizontal while simultaneously preserving natural eye contact and subtle breathing feel.
WiFi, who handled photography this time, was incredibly steady with candid captures. Many convention photos in the set were caught during natural walking or mid-pose movements, avoiding an overly staged look. Although cluttered backgrounds featuring other photographers, dry boxes, and black reflective umbrellas were blurred, they unexpectedly highlighted the clean, crisp essence of this Traditional Chinese style outfit. When bending over or sitting sideways, the robe's hem drapes gracefully, creating natural folded layers. The hair's glossiness also gained rich dimensionality under fill lighting. After a full day of scene setting and repeated positioning tests, the final selected photo set closely aligns with my original vision in terms of garment lighting texture, prop details, and facial/eye expression.
