[Vivian cosplay] Zenless Zone Zero: An Elegant Umbrella-Holding Moment - Image 2

This cosplay work of Vivian from Zenless Zone Zero was shot in a studio with a violet backdrop. Rather than merely mimicking the official character art, I hoped to recreate the character's unique ambiance—a blend of cool aloofness and relaxed ease—through this black-and-white themed attire, elf ears, and a custom-crafted umbrella.

In preparing the costume, the greatest effort went into rendering the fabric textures and layered relationships. The white ruffled sleeves on the upper body and the black choker around the collar created a sharp, clean color contrast, while the dark metallic buttons dotted on the sleeves added a touch of refinement. The white pleated mini skirt on the lower body featured a special cut, paired with a structured black waist corset and an irregular black hemline, which visually elongated my body proportions. For the hairstyle, light grayish-purple long straight hair was matched with neat blunt bangs; the black bow on top and the elf ear details by the sides effectively sculpted the character's contours during the studio shoot, and the wig was also treated with an anti-glare process to look more natural.

What I valued most during this shoot was prop coordination. This semi-transparent black-ribbed umbrella possessed remarkable texture, with the pale leaf patterns on the canopy scattering light softly under illumination. When shooting full-body shots, I held the umbrella handle in one hand while gently raising the other to rest against my cheek—a posture that nicely highlighted the character's languid elegance. Particularly worth noting is the pleated skirt paired with Black stockings cosplay under the studio fill lights, which clearly showcased the aesthetic harmony between leg lines and garments, serving as an essential element aligned with the character's mysterious aura.

To achieve the best possible visual effect during the shoot, we experimented with multiple lighting combinations. Using a solid violet background cloth not only made the cool-toned hair color pop but also rendered my skin tone exceptionally fair. To capture a lively catchlight in the eyes, we selected a softbox placed at a slightly elevated angle, ensuring that the glitter beneath my eyes and makeup details were vividly presented through the lens. When handling props, I had to consider not only the holding angle of the umbrella but also maintain natural posture to prevent my arms from blocking too many costume details.

Beyond external reproduction, I was also contemplating the character's inner temperament. Vivian's image carries a surreal, everyday sense of detachment; she appears distant yet oddly approachable, a contrast that I found deeply captivating. Therefore, in terms of expression control, I tried to maintain a calm, serene demeanor without forcing exaggerated expressions, infusing the character with vitality purely through gaze delivery. Every single frame of this photo set was meticulously crafted by carving out details in the studio—from hair and makeup to lighting and pose coaching, the entire preparation and execution process was exceptionally thorough.

Regarding cosplay presentation, I've always believed that matching external likeness isn't enough; capturing the soul is equally vital. By carefully managing costume tailoring and shooting angles, I hoped to weave my personal understanding of the character into every single frame. The makeup, props, and styling insights I utilized for this shoot are all documented here, and I hope this offers fans of this look a faithful presentation closest to the character art. Whether it's the layering of the outfit, the texture of the Black stockings cosplay, or the light transmission of the umbrella, these stand as the parts into which I poured the most heart during this cosplay journey.
