From finalizing the design details to actually putting it on, Aglaea's costume took nearly a month to complete. In Honkai: Star Rail, Aglaea has always exuded a sense of sacred sanctity paired with intense visual authority. Therefore, while preparing for this Aglaea Cosplay photoshoot, what I focused on most was the tactile texture of the garments and the weighty presence of the props. The weather in Shenzhen that day was quite sweltering; wearing this white battle robe adorned with heavy golden reliefs and long flowing ribbons while hoisting that massive golden greatsword caused my perceived temperature to skyrocket immediately. Still, to deliver a high-quality Anime-style photography set, all this exertion was completely worthwhile.
Regarding makeup and styling, to recreate the character's aloof divinity, the makeup focused primarily on the eyes. I specifically chose pale teal-green colored contacts, paired with false eyelashes to accentuate my eyes, while keeping the foundation luminous and sheer to deliver a translucent glow. The wig was trimmed and adjusted multiple times, especially around the bangs—aiming to maintain an airy, tousled silhouette without feeling too heavy. Ultimately, more than half a bottle of styling spray was used to lock in the ideal curvature.
The shooting location was a colonnade featuring classical stone pillars, with a moody, dark-toned backdrop that set off the white battle robes and golden weapon impeccably. The photographer exhibited masterclass control over light and shadow. To echo the character's abilities, we incorporated abundant feather effects and radiant golden light streaks into the composition. During actual shooting, I had to continuously swing that heavy greatsword in tandem with the sweeping trajectory of the trailing ribbons, testing countless angles before capturing the perfect frame. The first shot is a freeze-frame of me gripping the sword with both hands; holding the hilt horizontally is a rigorous test of arm strength, but the resulting aura of deterrence was spot-on. The second photo is a facial close-up, where my hands crossed in front of my cheeks to highlight the gaze—that blend of scrutinizing judgment and tender sorrow is an exquisitely captivating facet of Aglaea.
The entire shoot unfolded seamlessly, with feather props and visual effects infusing the set with rich fantasy flair. Colleagues in the Shenzhen cosplay photography community have always been incredibly efficient, making communication about posing and positioning on set effortless. The color grading for this photoshoot was refined several times before finally striking the balance between texture fidelity and showcasing the luminous sheen of fabrics and gold embellishments. Publishing the final results today serves as an answer to all the hard work poured into this endeavor. I hope everyone can feel Aglaea's unique allure within Honkai: Star Rail; demanding though this costume was, it proved undeniably rewarding on camera. Given future opportunities, I look forward to exploring more diverse character styles and challenging various high-tension Anime-style photography themes. The universe of Honkai: Star Rail is vast and grand, with every character boasting distinct visual symbols—Aglaea's feathers and golden sword being her finest emblems. This shooting experience gave me a far deeper appreciation of the character.
