[Marisa Kirisame Cosplay] An Ordinary Magician's Vintage Study Time - Image 1

The planning of this shoot is to interpret a popular character from the classic Touhou Project, which is Marisa Kirisame, whom I am portraying this time. Although she calls herself an ordinary magician in Gensokyo, her outfit and props are highly recognizable, especially that exaggerated wide-brimmed hat and the black-and-white ruffled dress. I have always liked her thirst for knowledge and unrestrained personality; having the opportunity to restore her in the real world this time is a quite special experience.

Regarding the styling this time, the costume comes from the hands of Master Takenaka Tamako. Master Takenaka has high requirements for the craftsmanship of apparel; the decorations on the collar, the layered ruffled pleats on the cuffs, and the wide silhouette of the skirt hem have all been meticulously restored. Although this outfit is very exquisite, the process of wearing it and the angle of placing the hat indeed require certain skills, not only to ensure the clothing looks good in form but also to maintain overall comfort.

To fit the character's temperament, the shooting location was specially selected in an indoor vintage study filled with a scholarly atmosphere. The wooden doors, stacked books, and that vintage kerosene lantern in the scene all beautifully create the atmosphere of a magician reading books. Especially those star-shaped night lights on the floor, under the warm yellow light, add a fairytale-like halo effect to the entire frame. I am very grateful to the photographer, Master Shilin. Master Shilin is exceptionally skilled at utilizing light to shape a three-dimensional feel; during the shoot, they used the partial illumination of the lantern and the diffused light of the star lamps to provide fill light for me, while coordinating with my postures to catch many highly natural moments that conform to the character setting for this Cosplay photography project.

During the shooting process, there were actually some small challenges. The study floor is made of hard wooden planks; to find a suitable perspective, I needed to maintain a sitting posture for a long time, while also adjusting the angle of the opened book in my hands and the position of the wide-brimmed hat, which indeed tested my patience. However, it is precisely this polishing of details that makes the final finished photo effect appear very vivid. Marisa is inherently a character who forgets to eat and sleep because of studying magic, so I also tried my best to find that sense of undisturbed focus, immersing myself in the book world before the lens.

This shoot was a very pleasant cooperation. Thanks to Master Shilin and the costume masters for their hard work, giving this photoshoot booking a great foundation. I have been making early preparations before, and today I can finally release the first teaser image to share the preliminary results of this shoot with everyone. Following this, there are more finished photos with different actions and scene views, which I will meet everyone with one after another after organizing them. Please look forward to the subsequent official photoset broadcast for this 2D project.
