In the Sea of flowers at night blooming with pink and violet hues, this Castorice purple dress hem was illuminated by the lights. This outdoor photoshoot was conducted primarily at night to leverage the dark background in accentuating the colors of the character and costume. The outfit's design elements are abundant: the upper body features a white corset cincher paired with a black choker collar, accented by a purple bow at the chest. The wig is a light-purple gradient short style; to match the elf-ear concept, the headpiece was layered with black butterflies and pink blossoms, accented on the side with diamond geometric ornaments. While richly dimensional, securing everything firmly onto the wig took considerable adjustment time.
The lower half features a purple skirt printed with butterfly wing patterns, overlaid with a white apron-style drape that folds naturally in motion. On my legs, I wore white pantyhose Stockings paired with long purple gloves bordered by white straps, ensuring the purple-and-white color palette remained harmoniously unified. The most eye-catching prop this time was that colossal scythe—the weapon features a gradient finish of purple, white, and pink, with white petal-like sculpting along the blade's spine and a black sphere embedded in the center, delivering a breathtakingly ornate visual punch.
The scythe itself carried noticeable heft; holding it one-handed while posing severely tested arm strength. To capture dynamic slashing momentum, I adjusted my grip angle multiple times, matching the hard light thrown by the flash before finally achieving a satisfying result. Another set of photos was shot holding a floral bouquet composed of blue-purple and orange-pink blossoms, echoing the pink-purple sea of flowers in the background while introducing a subtle chromatic contrast so the subject wouldn't dissolve entirely into the backdrop.
The trickiest part of shooting in a Sea of flowers at night is controlling contrast ratios. Enveloped in pitch darkness with only occasional distant lamppost bokeh, we relied on artificial lights to illuminate the subject and foreground flowers, testing numerous angles to avoid blowing out highlights or crushing the background into dead blacks. The wild flowerbeds swarmed with mosquitoes, and encased in an intricate costume, moving around freely was out of the question, leaving me no choice but to endure and keep shooting. The flower patches reached waist-high; whether squatting or sitting, the skirt hem intertwined with the blossoms, requiring constant adjustments to the petticoat shape to preserve the skirt's full, voluminous silhouette.
Putting on all the accessories for this outfit was quite cumbersome, and being outdoors demanded constant vigilance against snags from branches or wild weeds. Nevertheless, when the lights illuminated these purple-and-white fabrics, creating a stark contrast against the blooming pink blossoms in the dark night, the visual texture across the frame was truly exceptional. These captured moments completely brought out the intended atmosphere of the costume, props, and scene; demanding as the shooting process was, the finished cosplay photos prove that all the effort was entirely worthwhile.
