[Castorice cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail: The Scythe of Repose Sweeping Across the Convention

Carrying this scythe weighing several kilograms into the CHCC convention hall, I subconsciously adjusted the armor on my arm. This time I cosplayed Castorice from Honkai: Star Rail; this purple-and-white costume made me extremely eye-catching across the venue, especially with the elf ears and floral clusters adorning the headpiece, packing the look with intricate details for this Castorice cosplay.

The most demanding aspect throughout the entire photoshoot was mastering body language. Castorice inherently carries a tranquil, detached aura, seeming to drift eternally along the boundary between life and death. To recreate this mood, I kept the base makeup minimal, blending reddish-purple tones across the eyes, paired with contacts to deepen the gaze. The cut of this costume is meticulously tailored: expansive cutouts across the shoulders adorned with abstract butterfly accents beautifully highlight the collarbones and shoulder lines. My favorite detail was this White cut-out stockings outfit (white over-the-knee stockings with expansive mesh cutouts); paired with purple high heels, it elongated the leg lines, showcasing dynamic nuances with every step and fully expressing color and depth when seated in poses.

The lighting inside the CHCC convention venue was not particularly forgiving; the harsh overhead industrial panel lights could easily flatten facial features if angles weren't managed properly. Fortunately, the accompanying photographer came well-prepared, deploying long LED fill light panels on the floor for bottom-fill rendering. The composition of the first shot seated on a chair was something I loved: this pose allowed the giant scythe to forge a striking diagonal line from top-right to bottom-left, creating a remarkably rich visual frame for these Convention photos. For such a massive prop, gripping it with one hand conveys more relaxed poise than holding it with both hands—keeping fingers naturally relaxed so the shadow of the blade's spine fell behind me. Shifting the hips outward slightly with legs crossed visually fanned out the butterfly-wing structure of the dress front.

After shooting dynamic weapon-swinging stances, we attempted seated poses on the floor. Seated floor poses are actually more exhausting than standing, because the voluminous, spread-out skirt must be carefully smoothed so it doesn't bunch up awkwardly. Photos 2, 4, and 5 all capture quiet moments of glancing back over the shoulder. The wig was a long, pale-purple curly style; walking around the convention easily tangled it, so the bangs needed to be fixed slightly higher to keep from blocking the eyes. When taking close-up shots of smaller props, I rested the staff horizontally across my knees, slightly pursing my lips to convey the character's signature melancholy in this cosplay.

Spreading out the skirt hem while seated on the gray concrete floor, surrounded by bustling convention attendees and photographers on assignments, slipping into an immersive zone was instant once the lens framed my face. The gradient tones of deep purple and fluorescent violet looked exceptionally clean against the white backdrop and gray flooring; high-ISO raw shots gained immediate presence after subtle color grading in post-processing. While maneuvering the massive scythe through crowded halls was cumbersome—with the blade tip nearly bumping into others' photography gear multiple times—seeing the fabric drape, the dimensional depth of the floral headpiece, and the intricate White cut-out stockings outfit clearly preserved in the finished Convention photos made the entire journey completely worthwhile. Exceptional Honkai: Star Rail cosplay is never just about wearing the right outfit, but seamlessly integrating every fleeting expression and posture habit into the soul of the performance.
