[Zhiyue cosplay] A Mint-Green Day at Firefly ACG Expo

This Zhiyue cosplay look shot at Firefly ACG Expo turned out with an overall refreshing and lazy vibe that I personally love so much.

First, let's talk about this mint-green Cat ear wig. To match the character's lively and casual feel, I specifically trimmed rich layers into the bangs and shoulder-length short hair. The hair strands feel light, and paired with cat ear hairpieces on top, the overall head profile doesn't feel heavy. The wig edges and hairline were secured using plenty of bobby pins and an invisible hairnet, so even amidst crowd squeezes at the expo, it didn't easily mess up while moving around. The matching-color plush tail behind me featured fishbone support, which could be curved slightly into natural arcs to add three-dimensional dimension to the photos.

To convey the character's casual and carefree attitude, I intentionally chose an oversized white T-shirt with plenty of room—a quite loose and comfortable fit. For the lower body, I paired it with loose dark blue wide-leg pants, creating a very relaxed, unconstrained Casual style cosplay look. Since the top was pure white, environmental light refraction was quite demanding during shooting; I tried selecting softer lighting areas around the outer perimeter of the convention venue to avoid overexposure under harsh sunlight, while the natural cool ambient lighting made the mint-green wig look exceptionally airy.

For makeup, I focused on highlighting the character's signature lazy and casual traits. Therefore, in the eyeshadow section, I used a very sheer base shade for blending, then focused on deepening the eyelash root contours and eyeliner definition. If eye makeup gets too heavy, it loses that clean, fresh feel; thus, I intentionally toned down heavy eyeshadow layering, which, combined with red contact lenses, made the gaze look transparent and textured without feeling hollow. For lip color, I used a light nude-pink lip gloss layered thinly to keep the lips naturally plump and moist.

A mottled white thick cylinder column became the most practical prop during the shoot that day. It served both as something to lean against and allowed me to comfortably strike supported poses to stabilize my center of gravity—whether tilting my head while holding a cigarette like in picture four or leaning against the pillar, it played a great compositional role. The cigarette prop was prepared specifically before the convention; holding it in mouth or between fingers during shots wasn't just for resemblance, but combined with subtly squinted eyes, it created an unforced, relaxed, and slightly edgy casual vibe.

Although the convention site had heavy foot traffic and cluttered backgrounds, finding this flight of outdoor stairs and the shallow water pool area felt like discovering my own quiet little world. The natural greenery of trees in the background and gray-toned stone steps made the overall photo color scheme more harmonious and natural, carrying a daily yet high-textured atmosphere. Many cosplayers often experience cosplay anxiety, feeling the need for heavy makeup and magnificent gear, but after this session, I increasingly feel that lightweight shooting has its own unique charm. Without complex props, a simple matching look can brilliantly convey the character's soul.

This outdoor shoot at Firefly ACG Expo truly let me experience another kind of cosplay joy—no cumbersome wear, no heavy armor pressure, achieving satisfying shots with the most relaxed mindset. This set recorded exactly such a casual, natural everyday state. Through these Convention photos, I hope everyone can also feel the cool, lazy visual experience outside the convention grounds.
