This Blue Archive Shimoe Koharu cosplay shoot was set in a classroom filled with warm, vintage wood tones, with lighting set to soft afternoon sunlight. The main camera used was an α7 IV, paired with FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II and FE 50mm F1.2 GM lenses. The 24-70 was very handy for medium-to-long shots and establishing environmental context, bringing desks, bookshelves, and window light into the frame together. Meanwhile, the F1.2 large aperture of the 50mm was used for upper-body shots and close-ups in Cosplay photography; its smooth bokeh separated the textures of the uniform and feather ornaments, preventing background clutter from looking messy.
This outfit coordination is quite interesting. A black-dominated sailor-collar jacket paired with a pink bow tie and sleeve edging, plus a burgundy pleated skirt and white over-the-knee boots, creating a clear color contrast with a fresh campus vibe for Anime cosplay. To ensure camera appeal, feathers on the side of the hat were reinforced so they would maintain an ideal shape when turning around or slightly tilting down. The pink floating halo above her head is truly the soul of the photos, with a natural glow under sunlight. Her feather tail behind produces a natural flutter when moving; when capturing that turn-and-look-back shot, we intentionally let the tail trace a vivid arc in frame.
When guiding poses, I didn't want to shoot standard formulaic standing postures, but tried more relaxed positions instead. For instance, sitting on desks with crossed legs and chin resting on hands, or leaning over desks extending hands forward to create depth. The black long-handled umbrella was an important prop that day; when holding it, tilting the handle slightly to one side created a relaxed feeling under a defensive posture. Lower body coordination with sitting poses subtly revealed white boots' contours and pleated skirt folds, visually lengthening leg proportions—a non-forced, naturally showcased perspective that feels far more appealing.
On-site lighting relied mainly on natural light coming through left-side windows. Half-sheer cotton-linen curtains acted as a massive softbox, casting no harsh highlights on the face and keeping skin tones translucent and clean. Combined with warm indoor wood tones, it nicely enhanced the quiet atmosphere suited for a Classroom photo scene. Looking at playbacks after shooting, several frames captured focused eyes staring into lens or thoughtful glances to the side—that moment of relaxation matched the character's temperament perfectly. Hope this photoshoot set with an everyday vibe allows everyone to see a different classroom corner.
