During a business trip to Changsha at the beginning of the year, I specifically set aside a day to complete this Honkai: Star Rail Huohuo shoot. At that time, I fell in love with this lantern-lit ancient street scene at first sight—the mottled green stone slab road, the scattered wooden stalls, and the warm yellow paper lanterns lit up at night. That kind of bustling marketplace firework atmosphere and Chinese fantasy feel has a highly superb compatibility with the character. Sadly, I recently heard that this scene has been demolished, so this newly edited set of complete final photos has become the sole memento.

For this shoot, the wig went through very detailed trimming, and the mint green tone looked highly lightweight before the lens. The styling focused heavily on restoring that iconic large plush tail, along with the cross-slung wooden little gourd pendant, the tasseled white leg warmers, and the retro-style little leather shoes. In terms of costume colors, the blue, white, and cyan-green main color scheme formed a very comfortable cold-warm contrast against the backdrop of the warm-toned night scene.

The photographer led us to try different perspectives during the shoot, including a high-angle overhead shot that caught the transient moment of a little white cat passing by, bringing a delightful surprise of fleeting vitality. However, I personally feel that the pose in Image 3, turning back with one leg slightly raised, came out the best. This dynamic turn-back not only beautifully exhibited the fluffiness of the tail, but also elongated the visual proportions with the raised leg posture, letting the cloud patterns on the clothing hem and the tassel details of the leg warmers present themselves completely, keeping the frame's center of gravity highly stable while matching the character's playful personality.

During the post-processing, I did not excessively do skin smoothing or whitening, but hoped to retain a film-like retro texture. Targeting the large-area warm light sources in the environment, I slightly brightened the saturation of cyan and blue in the color balance to neutralize the yellowed ambient light, keeping the character's colors clean and clear. As for the costume textures and the grains on the wooden buildings, the details of the original raw photo were preserved as much as possible to prevent the frame from becoming flat like plastic.

This set of works actually integrates a lot of real Chinese elements with anime-style aesthetics. Wear coordinates like shorts paired with white loose socks actually offer some reference feel for daily wear, but once the tassels and unique hair accessories are added, the character's recognition is instantly maxed out. Thinking back to the night of the shoot at the beginning of the year, in the damp and cold night air of Changsha, standing repeatedly to adjust the hair flow direction of the tail for several ideal camera angles was indeed physically tiring, but seeing the edited final results, the sense of accomplishment is still highly intense in this night photography session at the Changsha old street exterior.
