For this white studio shoot of the gymnastics uniform version of Rikka, I wanted to focus primarily on kinetic tension in posing and garment details. To stay true to the character's design, the wig was trimmed with layers based on the original cut, giving the ends a more natural look, while the two iconic ahoge cowlicks on the crown were styled with firm hold to ensure they wouldn't collapse during continuous action. In terms of facial makeup, the eyepatch was the centerpiece prop: the strap tension was adjusted to fit snugly without pinching or leaving marks on the skin, while keeping a matte finish on the eyepatch surface to avoid unflattering specular reflections under powerful studio lighting. Eye makeup emphasized the contours of the eye shape, working with the eyepatch to channel the character's distinct aura. A huge focus was placed on base makeup longevity—performing numerous expansive movements meant sweat could easily cause melting, so setting spray and loose powder were applied generously.

The attire chosen was the classic white short-sleeve polo shirt featuring high-contrast red piping along the collar and cuffs, while the white side stripe on the dark athletic shorts added visual dimension. On the lower half, I wore white stockings extending over the knee; knowing that a white studio environment easily blows out highlights, I intentionally chose a semi-sheer, lightly compressive style that both flattered leg contours and retained clean edge separation under bright lighting. The shoes were white flat leather loafers with red piping, matching the overall color palette. Regarding fit, the drape of the polo shirt couldn't be too rigid, so I loosened the tuck slightly into the shorts to balance body proportions.

To yield great results in a white cyclorama studio, I ditched standard standing poses and incorporated plenty of expressive, dramatic body language—such as splaying fingers into a claw-like grip or raising one leg high. While these poses look theatrically exaggerated, they place immense demands on core strength. Standing on one leg required engaging the leg muscles while maintaining a relaxed upper body to appear effortlessly poised. During the shoot, I continually shifted my torso angle, using forward leans or slight twists to create natural folds in the loose uniform and prevent a bulky look. Finger gestures mattered too; even making a peace sign depended heavily on wrist angle and knuckle curves. Eye coordination was equally critical: wearing an eyepatch meant the exposed eye had to convey that slightly manic, unyielding confidence.

White studio photography is notoriously demanding regarding light and background purity, as even minor shifts in positioning create unexpected shadows. Throughout the shoot, we tested different lighting angles repeatedly to ensure the subject cleanly separated from the white backdrop—demanding strict exposure control to balance dark hair against white garments and white stockings. The pairing of shorts and white stockings framed the leg lines beautifully amid the motion, becoming a true visual highlight of the gym uniform look. To keep the series from feeling monotonous, I introduced rhythmic highs and lows in posing—transitioning from deep crouches to standing postures, or pointing toes to create visual extension.

The entire shoot was physically grueling, requiring prolonged holds of dynamic poses while cooperating with the photographer to catch subtle micro-expressions. While some gestures felt utterly chunibyo, they faithfully channeled the character's spirit, making the process thoroughly enjoyable. Using body language to portray that reckless, completely immersed state within her own universe was where I poured the most heart. Documenting this white studio creative journey serves as an exploration combining movement choreography with white cyclorama lighting.
