[Takanashi Hoshino cosplay] Blue Archive — A Special Christmas Greeting

This set of Christmas-themed Takanashi Hoshino cosplay photos was finally completed before the end of the year. The overall preparation was actually much more tedious than expected, but fortunately, the final presentation came very close to what I had originally envisioned in my mind.

First is this red-and-white Christmas outfit. In terms of silhouette, to match Hoshino's petite and lazy vibe, we deliberately selected a loose-fitting jacket with noticeable plush texture. The white faux-fur trim around the collar and hems is super fluffy, and paired with the large white pom-pom on top of the hat, the overall visual creates a warm winter holiday atmosphere. For the lower body, I paired it with pure white pantyhose for this white tights cosplay; this pristine white texture looks exceptionally clean under warm lighting, perfectly matching the character's overall palette. For the wig, we chose a light pink style, trimming light wisps and curved bangs, while the cat ear accessories on both sides of the head were attached separately so they fit the head contour better without shifting during movements.

For makeup, I tried my best to channel Hoshino's signature "lazy yet clever" personality. The eye makeup used light pink tones, emphasizing enlarged eye contours to make them look rounder, which, paired with contact lenses, brought out a focused gaze. For the lips, I chose a clear bean-paste red that harmonizes with the overall youthful energy without looking overly heavy.

The studio setup on the day of the shoot also took plenty of effort. The background featured a simplified European-style fireplace set with warm charcoal fire lighting inside, casting an atmospheric ambient base glow. The Christmas tree beside it was chosen with a frosted snow texture, decorated with champagne and red ornaments, which, alongside a rustic linen gift box on the floor, gave the whole composition a cozy winter room Christmas vibe.

Across the two sets of poses in this shoot, for the first photo I chose a livelier upper-body stance with hands half-opened near my cheeks to simulate playful interaction with the camera. At the same time, lifting one leg added visual extension to the frame; the contrast between the white pantyhose and red plush outfit is vivid, and the light contouring the leg lines is visually striking. For the second shot, I switched to a gentler chin-resting pose with palms stacked beneath my chin and a softer gaze; this contrast nicely reflects the character's trait of usually being lazy yet dependable when it counts.

During the shoot, a few small hiccups occurred—for example, the white cat ear accessories weren't fastened completely tight and tilted slightly during a head turn, requiring readjustment. Also, red fuzz from the clothes easily clung to the white tights, so we had to carefully pat it off between takes to prevent the shots from looking dusty and losing quality.

During post-processing, I intentionally preserved the romantic and healing feeling brought by the warm yellow lighting without overly brightening the background, keeping the focal light on the character. A gentle soft-glow effect was added along the edges of the foreground gift box to make the scene more vibrant. In Blue Archive, Hoshino is designed as a senior who rarely takes the initiative in daily life but is deeply caring beneath the surface, and this Christmas cosplay outfit amplified her adorable appearance and intriguing charm.

As a cosplayer, what I value most is conveying the character's genuine traits in front of the lens. Whether through dynamic poses or a gentle smile, I hope to communicate Hoshino's relaxed ease and lively spirit through these frozen moments. I hope everyone enjoys this set filled with winter romance—it feels like a wonderful conclusion to this year's cosplay journey.
