[Marin Kitagawa cosplay] My Dress-Up Darling Maid Supremacy

The character I cosplayed this time is Marin Kitagawa from My Dress-Up Darling. I've wanted to try this pink striped Maid outfit for quite a while. As a high school girl passionate about cosplay, Marin's spirit of giving everything for what she loves truly resonates with me. The vertical pink-and-white stripes on this maid dress are instantly recognizable, and the pink binding along the neckline and cuffs is crafted with delicate precision. To achieve an authentic recreation, I chose a white apron accented with pink ruffles and paired it with sheer Pink stockings. The custom-made name badge printed with 'Maid Supremacy' served as a fun little Easter egg for the overall styling.

For the wig, I selected a lighter shade of long straight blonde hair; balancing daily wear with on-camera results, trimming the bangs took a bit of time to closely match the tiered layers of the original design. The makeup leaned toward pinkish-orange tones, with a touch of heavier blush to channel Marin's vibrant, energetic radiance. The pink visor cap was the soul of the look—putting it on instantly established the entire vibe. The white plush slippers were not only comfortable to walk around the house in, but also added an effortless, relaxed touch to the shoot.

All photos were mirror selfies taken with a smartphone. Holding the phone with one hand makes controlling composition and facial expression quite tricky, but being able to check the mirror allowed for real-time adjustments. Posing standing up with legs crossed was primarily meant to visually elongate leg lines while showcasing the texture of the Pink stockings. The side-angle kneeling pose was an attempt to explore a different perspective, giving the folds of the skirt and apron a more dimensional, structured feel. When kneeling on the floor, the spread of the skirt hem conveyed an intimate, cozy at-home vibe distinct from standing poses. Trying out these different postures proved that the cut of this dress is exceptionally well-suited for everyday lifestyle scenes.

To recreate the character as faithfully as possible, I prefer handling everything personally—from costume nuances to accessory selection. That hands-on process is precisely where the joy of cosplay lies: it's not merely putting on clothes to take photos, but gradually immersing oneself into her mindset and imagining how she would carry herself. Pink-toned outfits look wonderful under warm illumination; this indoor session relied primarily on natural daylight, with minimal color grading in post-production to keep the atmosphere raw and authentic.

Shooting this set was an absolute blast. Although kneeling on the floor for extended periods was a bit tough on my knees, it helped me gain valuable experience with indoor mirror selfies. Here's hoping the upcoming shoots go just as smoothly!
