[Kisaki Cosplay] Gymnastics Uniform Moments in the Classroom

Slipping into this gymnastics uniform and standing before the classroom set, I subconsciously muttered, \"Gymnastics is so tiring, Sensei~\" This time I recreated Ryuuge Kisaki from Blue Archive. To capture that authentic in-game feel, a tremendous amount of care went into everything from makeup to costume details.

A white cropped crewneck T-shirt paired with dark blue athletic shorts, featuring dark trim along the neckline and cuffs that adds design flair to a basic outfit. The true soul of this gymnastics uniform is undoubtedly the pristine white over-the-knee socks, which, paired with the cut of the shorts, visually elongate leg lines—one of the key elements I wanted to highlight in this shoot.

Styling the wig was a major hurdle: two signature double odango buns paired with straight-cut bangs and cascading long side strands required intricate combing and firm setting to maintain an airy 3D structure. Makeup highlighted pink hues around the eyes and cheeks to soften my gaze, aligning closely with her tsundere yet subtly innocent disposition.

The real classroom set produced incredible atmosphere: a green chalkboard behind me decorated with yellow protractor drawings, alongside a volleyball rack and scattered volleyball props on the right. To prevent visual clutter, we shot with a wide-aperture lens to blur the background, keeping the character as the sharp visual focus.

We experimented with varied camera angles—beyond relaxed seated poses on chairs, I tried sitting atop a school desk with bent, raised knees while lightly pinching the edge of my white over-the-knee socks. This angle handsomely displayed the cropped cut of the gymnastics uniform while adding a pinch of playful charm. For lighting, a combination of side-backlight and a front softbox kept skin textures looking translucent while preventing bright whites of the shirt and socks from blowing out and losing detail.

Wearing a gymnastics uniform really restricts pose range, especially with a cropped top and shorts where larger movements easily reveal the waist and midriff. While this conveys a free-spirited youthful energy, maintaining a tight core throughout the shoot was essential to keep posture looking naturally upright on camera. The elasticity of the white socks also easily created fabric pulling, so I smoothed them carefully before shooting to ensure a crisp, clean aesthetic.

Capturing a single natural gaze often meant repeatedly adjusting head angles and hand placements. Though the outfit looks light and simple, shooting was physically demanding—especially during half-squats and side-body poses. Overcoming physical fatigue while maintaining relaxed facial expressions before the lens is a constant challenge. Behind every cosplay lies endless refinement of character nuances. This gymnastics uniform set strives to recreate her vibrant everyday presence on campus, infusing my personal interpretation of Blue Archive's Kisaki. Although minor flaws may remain, this photoshoot experience was truly unforgettable.
