Today's shoot featured Xiao Qiao from Honor of Kings, infused with whimsical Line Dog elements. The mint-green short wig was layered and textured, keeping the bangs light and airy rather than overly dense. Makeup focused on the eyes and an expansive wash of blush, with blue-grey contact lenses giving her gaze an extra spark of agility. Since there was no canon long gown for this theme, I opted for a combination of an off-the-shoulder white knit sweater and a pastel blue pleated skirt. The rainbow and star details on the sweater sleeves required careful alignment, complemented by a bright orange scarf stamped with white paw prints and a yellow choker around the neck. The leg warmers were chunky white knits, embellished with pink bows and blue star patches to add rich visual interest in front of the lens.
The location was a cozy pink bedroom furnished with a pink sofa and bed, accented by pink florals and wall art in the background. For props, I prepared a plush throw pillow adorned with 'MALTESE' and cartoon graphics. Studio lighting leaned toward soft, warm tones to prevent harsh highlights from blowing out. Xiao Qiao's character is inherently bubbly, so for posing, I incorporated plenty of playful postures—lying prone, resting my chin on my hands, reaching toward the lens, and flashing peace signs. Perching along the sofa edge helped elongate the visual lines, while sitting bedside hugging the pillow kept my silhouette soft and approachable.
Throughout the shoot, I made a conscious effort to let the pleats of the skirt fan out naturally to preserve depth. Directing my gaze was equally vital: alternating between locking eyes with the lens and glancing slightly off-center ensured the expressions felt candid rather than stiff. Because the knit fabrics were thick and the room was fairly warm, I needed periodic breaks to tidy up the wig and touch up the makeup. To make the Line Dog motif pop, arm accessories and leg warmer accents were harmonized across the styling.
From a color perspective, the palette of mint green, vivid orange, and pale blue set against a pink backdrop brought high saturation, so post-color grading aimed for a fresh, clean balance. This styling preserved Xiao Qiao's signature cuteness while blending in a relaxed, cozy at-home vibe. Each shot's composition was calibrated to establish a distinct focal point, leveraging light and shadow to highlight fabric textures and accessory craftsmanship. Preparation took considerable time, but seeing the final images proved that every ounce of effort poured into the details was entirely worthwhile. I hope everyone enjoys this set.
