[Cyrene Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail's Genesis Ceremonial Sword — The Struggle and Satisfaction of Dressing Up Solo

From accessories to putting it all on, wearing this outfit takes about half an hour, not including initial wig combing and headpiece adjustment. This time I shot Cyrene Cosplay from Honkai: Star Rail, choosing Cianyee cosplay costume dress and shoes. Honestly, the outfit's tailoring is quite good, but to achieve a fit closer to the artwork, I made slight adjustments to Cianyee's included petticoat—mainly reducing the front fluffiness so the skirt flows much better from the front without puffing out like a lantern.

During the whole dressing process, the trickiest part was definitely the smocked back drawstrings. Doing it alone makes it nearly impossible to tighten the back drawstrings to a fully form-fitting state. Every time I wear this dress, I have to slowly feel around with both hands behind my back to pull it tight step-by-step, taking multiple tedious attempts just to get an acceptable look, though still falling slightly short of maximum tightness. Having a friend around to help pull the strings would easily cut the time in half, so I strongly recommend fellow cosplayers get a buddy to help adjust the back tightness.

For the gear paired this time, the Ceremonial sword prop was custom-made by a maker on Xianyu, and Manjiong's bow also boasts excellent craftsmanship. Holding these two props gives a truly solid weight, which, combined with the white-and-purple gradient layered skirt, creates a wide, impressive visual presence when standing. The pink wig boasts a remarkable length and shines vividly under the light, while the holographic gradient hair accessory on top adds plenty of grandeur to the overall look.

Regarding this headpiece, while it involves a few steps to wear, the design is genuinely user-friendly. You clip it onto the inner layer of hair first before putting on the pink wig. However, you must be extremely careful when putting on the wig—avoid pulling too hard, or you might shift or knock off the headpiece. Once the wig is styled, go back and adjust the headpiece's position to ensure it rests at the visual center.

During the shoot, I noticed that photos of this costume have specific lighting demands. While it looks decent under normal home lighting, bringing out the airy transparency of the wig and the vibrant laser effect on the hair ornaments requires a brighter natural light source or professional studio lighting gear. In my own indoor home lighting, reflections were quite strong, occasionally washing out some of the outfit's fabric texture details.

Overall, despite a few bumps when putting on this Cyrene Cosplay outfit and the time-consuming nature of solo prep, this Cosplay sharing post shows that the final result makes it all worthwhile. The flowing layered skirt moves dynamically when walking, and the prop length paired with skirt layering creates striking visual tension. The headpiece details are another major highlight, completing the full look seamlessly. If I get the chance to reshoot in the future outdoors or in a studio with better lighting and specialized angles, I should be able to capture the essence of this outfit even more thoroughly.
