Browsing through my photo gallery, I only just realized that the photos returned from Day 3 of World Line Anime Convention were pitifully few. I vividly recall being pulled along by friends to shoot for quite a while across every possible angle, so why are there only a handful of scattered shots in my album now? It seems I really need to put up a post looking for Day 3 photos from World Line.
This time I cosplayed Cyrene. The moment I received this costume, I noticed the craftsmanship was packed with immense detail. The white corset structure on the upper body was relatively intricate, featuring numerous cutouts and silver-and-purple decorative filigree; the tailoring around the neckline and shoulders in particular required lengthy readjustments to achieve a flush fit. The detached sleeves and bracers on my arms were equally demanding to wear—the colorful silk ribbons at the wrists came undone frequently and had to be retied before every shot. The skirt utilized a tiered ruffle structure in a fabric with a pearlescent sheen that cast a blue-purple gradient shift in motion, but it creased easily, requiring careful smoothing layer by layer whenever changing shoot spots.
The wig was a Long pink hair gradient style, fading into light blue at the ends. To facilitate styling, trimming and setting the bangs took some effort, while the white leaf hair ornaments on the crown and the Elf ears props were secured using hairpins and clear monofilament wire so they wouldn't easily fall off while walking the convention floor. Regarding makeup, to complement the pink wig and purple contact lenses, I applied relatively heavy pink tones to the eye makeup—especially blending along the lower eyelids—hoping to evoke a magical, otherworldly aesthetic. For the lips, I selected a lustrous red to provide a touch of contrast against the overall palette. Truth be told, this kind of makeup easily fades under harsh convention lighting, requiring frequent touch-ups.
The prop grimoire's cover was handcrafted by myself with a deep blue base and gold borders, centered around a clockface-like design. When posing, I especially loved interacting with the book in hand—such as cradling it with one hand while reaching the other forward, or extending the book outward during a profile turn, which not only highlighted the prop but also added dramatic depth to the frame. Occasionally, the photographer had me strike a spellcasting posture with fingers gently parted and palm facing up; though a bit dramatic, the resulting effect was undeniably striking. To accentuate the costume's layers and upper-body contours, I deliberately turned sideways or straightened my posture when posing.
The lighting inside the convention hall was actually quite complicated; the venue was vast, and the overhead lighting was rather harsh. To get great shots, we often had to hunt for better angles or utilize natural light filtering near the edges of the hall. What left the deepest impression on me that day was walking through the halls in this full getup the entire day; my feet were truly aching, but seeing gorgeous convention shots made it all feel worth it. Because the skirt was so voluminous, I was constantly worried about people stepping on it or bumping into my book prop in the crowded aisles.
Honestly, the greatest joy of cosplay is interacting with everyone. Even though wearing a full costume is exhausting and the wig gets sweltering, meeting people at the convention who love the same work, posing together, and chatting brings a sense of camaraderie you can't experience in daily life. The venue for this World Line Anime Convention was quite massive, and I met many fantastic photographers. However, I moved around a lot without lingering in one spot, so many photos taken haven't been sent my way yet, which is a bit of a shame looking back.
If any friends snapped photos of my Cyrene look on Day 3 of World Line Anime Convention, I would love it if you could send them to me! Convention shots or studio-style frames, raw or retouched—everything is welcome. I'm eager to see whether the costume details were captured properly through the lens that day. Even though I don't have many shots on hand right now, I still wanted to compile this set first to document this cosplay journey. Hopefully next time I can learn from this, stay focused in one area to shoot more, and thoroughly document every state of the character.
