[Vivian Cosplay] Purple-Haired Elf in Zenless Zone Zero: Expression-Mimicking Selfie Record

Trying to mimic VVA's (Vivian's) expressions, I ended up realizing the front camera selfie orientation was completely flipped horizontally—a minor regret for this photo batch. However, since the photo and event posts have already been published, let's just use these pictures to chat about my experience cosplaying Vivian this time.

First off, I poured most of my energy into the hair gradient and accessory selection for this overall styling. The wig features a light purple to white gradient; the hair texture and bang curve turned out pretty well, while the substantial dark blue bow headpiece atop my head helped secure the hairstyle tightly without looking messy. To fit the character's style, I picked signature red contact lenses along with Elf ears props, which framed both profile and frontal contours nicely. Seeing feedback today mentioning how accurate it looked made me feel that despite photo flaws, the makeup and hair efforts paid off.

For the outfit, the white lapel coat layered over a blue-and-white striped shirt brought rich visual depth. Frilled collar detailing paired with a prominent dark blue bow tie featured a square purple gemstone set in the center—the most eye-catching accent on the chest with excellent texture. Purple semi-transparent tulle ruffles below the bow tie introduced a touch of softness. Black shoulder straps on both sides elongated overall costume proportions, creating a look that combines sharp uniform crispness with fantasy elegance.

In terms of makeup, to highlight the eyes, I emphasized the aegyo sal (under-eye area) and lower eyelids, lengthening eye shapes slightly with false eyelashes to evoke a detached yet playful vibe when paired with red contact lenses. Lip color was chosen in a hydrated nude-pink tone—not overly strong—fitting her slightly lazy yet gentle demeanor. To elevate overall completeness, I deliberately grew out my nails and painted them black, adding tiny purple accents on select nails; although big movements risked snapping them, it was totally worth it for the final detail accuracy in this Casual cosplay log.

Speaking of these selfies, because the front camera mirrored the shots, the overall direction ended up completely flipped. Many pre-planned gestures and angles looked a bit awkward in raw photos—for instance, several expression-mimicking poses that looked great in the mirror turned out mirrored left-to-right, which was truly maddening. Fortunately, editing with cropping and sticker collages offered some rescue. Placing chibi stickers of the mimicked expressions in the bottom right corner as references helped convey the intended expressions.

Being at CP32pre this time, despite the minor selfie flipping mishap during this Vivian cosplay, the overall convention atmosphere was wonderful, and I met players who recognized the character and chatted with me. Venue lighting was quite cluttered, so natural light in hotels or rest lounges felt softer, capturing the gradient shine of the wig. Walking around the event all day was exhausting, but recreating a beloved character's look on-site brings genuine fulfillment.

Although this Vivian cosplay didn't yield stunning full-body shots with elaborate backdrops, these selfie logs with sticker side-by-side comparisons serve as a meaningful trace of my effort. If time permits later on, I'll consider doing a full official photo shoot with better angles and lighting to present the costume fabrics and dark blue headpiece texture in higher detail.
